I ride with my Garmin Edge 1040 3 times a week for about 60 miles. It is great for tracking my performance stats, like personal records. It is coupled with my Garmin Varia RCT715 Radar which warns me about the traffic behind.

Good bike computer, much like my 1030 Plus
Some of the banners are hard to read and it keeps dropping the connection to various sensors, like speed, cadence, HRM, power. But they reconnect after a few seconds.

Worth the upgrade
Huge step up from my Edge 520. The touchscreen is accurate even with wet hands. So many display configurations to fit your needs and an easy swipe to next display. Map is large enough to read safely while riding.

Garmin Edge 1040
Because I love the size of the unit and the mapping color as well as the ability to log my workouts, check all my data when training and help keep me in check. I've previously owned the Edge 1030. The 1040 map details and battery life are much better as well as the fast processing power. The 1040 is simple to use and well worth the money. I wouldn't go on a ride with out it.

Don't why I waited so long to get this!
I am still learning all of the options and settings, but I am quite satisfied with my current experience. I am especially pleased to have reliable connections to my sensors and Varia. Now, I can't imagine cycling without it.

Incredible addition to biking!
We previously had an Edge 1000. This has so many features and connects automatically to our HR monitor, radar and iPhone. It is customizable and the battery is greatly improved. Expensive, but I feel it is worth every dollar!

Meets Expectations
The 1040 puts all the information that is relevant to my cycling at my fingertips. It seamlessly downloads to the app to give a more comprehensive view. The one feature I would improve is the switching between cycling disciplines, not intuitive.

Perfect size and all you need for tracking
It is so far working great. I used to use my Forerunner 945 for tracking my cycling activities but this edge is perfect size making it much safer. Battery life is good. For some reason WiFi sync does not work for some reason but I believe it does not work while connected to phone. Not a biggy

Struggling
My 1030 died. Garmin expedited replacement. Pairing everything seemed cumbersome and not as easy as it should have been. Took couple days to have it primed….. worked three days, now , it’s dead and doesn’t seem to be charging …..I’ll be seeking help, and or replacement unit, tomorrow. Sucks to not have data as race season is here.

1st time Garmin User
I recently purchased the Edge 1040 after having used a Wahoo Element Roam. I really like the Garmin and have had no issues. But, it is not as intuitive to use as the Wahoo and I felt the intro info was not as helpful as it could be.

Such great integration
Garmin knocked it out of the park with this unit. I got the bundle instead of the solar unit. I've used it 10 times or so since purchasing. I still have yet to charge it. Take the time to learn the interface. Once you overcome the learning curve, you have an incredible navigational ecosystem. Downloading Komoot and Trailforks right to the unit is amazing. Garmin opened their API integration, meaning routes from your favorite trails are right on your unit. Furthermore, and perhaps just a luxury...
