Dewalt quality

This was the #1 recommended router out of ten reviewed/compared for my specific project. I went with this one because of reading those reviews. It's lived up to my expectation. It's good quality, powerful, and much smaller than the old school large size routers. I'm using it as a milling tool so I can't speak on wood work specifically, but it cuts aluminum great!

Excellent router!

I really like my new router. It works very well and is very quiet, especially compared to my old Craftsman router I had many years ago.

Excellent little router. Very handy and easily maneuverable, excellent for edging and light grooving and mortising... Excellent, high quality tool!!!!

A Must Have

If you are looking for a compact router this is it. I have tried every other major maker of compacts and this is clearly the class of the field. The precision in the adjust ability, ease of bit changing, along with a lighted work area all make this a great addition. I set this router up for a task I was doing over a number of weeks and each time I came back to it it was spot on, not something that I can say about the others.

Easy depth adjust

First project I did with this was quick and easy. Pleasantly surprised with how easy the depth adjustment was. Quick ring clamp release and then twist for an 8th inch adjust and then clamp it. Also like the LED light at the cutting area.

GREAT ROUTER FOR LOWER RECEIVER MILLING

THIS IS THE THIRD ROUTER I BOUGHT TO MILL AR LOWER RECEIVERS, AND IT IS BY FAR THE BEST!!!! INFINITE DEPTH ADJUSTMENTS, VARIABLE SPEED EASY TO HANDLE DOES NOT TORQUE ON START UP LIGHT TO SHOW YOUR WORK AND EXCELLENT BUY. WISH I HAD BOUGHT IT FIRST!!!

Why this does not come with a case...

Simply because DeWalt wants you to have the genuine pleasure of using this great router to build your own case, there is no case or bag included with this fantastic product. Take you time in drawing your plans, tweak it before you commit to the final draft, and buy real nice wood. Enjoy.

Got this little Gem for Christmas

I received this as a Christmas present from my son. I have a large Porter-Cable router and was looking for a smaller router for some tasks. I've had a few opportunities now to use it and I love it. That said, There are a couple of issues I would bring up for potential buyers. First, for those of you with a large collection of bits with 1/2" shafts, be prepared to buy new bits with 1/4" shafts. Good small router for trim work

Very stable and solid, when you set it it stays set. Very nice arbor lock for changing bits, much better than the lock on my 618. I only wish Lowe,s offered it with the plunge mount... But I needed it right away or I would have bought from Amazon...

Seems to handle needs of typical homeowner

This Dewalt router seemed to be better made than competing routers in the same price range. I particularly like the depth adjustment feature as compared to other compact routers in the same price range. The instructions that came with the Dewalt router said not to mount the router on a router table, which I assume that implies that the compact router is not meant for long term heavy duty use. The Small Router

This router is harder for me to use than a full sized router. I went back to the store to pick up the plunge base but they didn't have one. I ordered it on line and it ended up costing me almost full price. I could have done better with a kit somewhere else. I need the plunge base in order to have good grip control while engraving letters and designs into wood. Without the plunge base, it wanted to wander and I was afraid I would have a problem with the size and the bit.

Handy Router

I was looking for an additional router to handle jobs in tight spaces, and lacking the bulk of the regular routers. This router has a nice powerful motor that is adjustable and handles the tasks easily. The plastic base is rather interesting and worthwhile. The overall design of the router is very good, but not excellent. It has easily adjustable depth settings -- yet takes a bit of time to learn the technique smoothly. Excellent Router for the Money

Love the router...I have used it for my first two projects and it worked exactly!!! Thanks to some of the other reviewers who helped me understand the best way to use this router. My router out of the box would not hold depth adjustment. As one of the other reviewers pointed out...First tighten down the locking lever using an allen wrench...Like I said, out of the box this was set sufficently from the the factory and would have easily came out of its set point had I not tightened it down a bit. ...
