What Customers Are Saying
The product performs well for cutting smaller diameter PVC pipes up to 1 inch, providing clean, straight cuts. However, it struggles with larger pipes 2 inches and above, often crushing, shattering, or failing to make clean cuts. Durability and longevity are major concerns, with many users reporting the cutter breaking or becoming unusable after just a few uses, even on smaller pipes. The overall quality and reliability of the product seem inconsistent.

Would RecommendI went to purchase this item thinking it was a 2-1/2" cutter. In fact it is a 2" cutter (Yes, I verified the model number printed on the packaging). That said, it certainly has done the job on 2" and smaller pipe. While this isn't a problem with the cutter, you shouldn't try to cut off less that about 2-3" from the end of a pipe or you run the risk of getting a bad cut do the deformation of the pipe.
Doesn't work for short pieces
Would Not RecommendI was very impressed when the Lowe's employee used this tool to slice through the 10' 2" schedule 40 PVC pipe I needed cut in half so I could fit the pipe in my car. It made a perfectly straight cut with no burrs. I purchased this tool thinking it would make my pool equipment plumbing repair quick and easy. I needed to cut short pieces for all the connections and angles. I attempted to cut a 3" piece to use to connect 2 elbows that needed to be close together. The tool simply crushed the pipe...

Don't Buy
Would Not RecommendPurchased this product to cut some pvc. The item would not cut a 2" pipe then it would not open again to see if it would work. I ended up using my hacksaw to cut the pipe. Worst product I have ever purchased.

Same problem as so many others
Would Not RecommendI purchased this tool a few days ago to make a few cuts and on the first try the ratcheting mechanism broke before it even started cutting into the 2" pvc. I'll be driving 45 minutes back to Lowe's tomorrow to return it and hopefully exchange it for one that can get the job done.

Not worth the money

Be careful with > 2" pipe
Would RecommendI was working on a leak in the plumbing of a swimming pool. I had VERY little room to work and I thought this would be perfect. I was working on a 2" PVC pipe, these cutters were squashing the pipe so bad I thought the pipe was going to crack. I had to cut a small notch in the pipe with a saw then use this tool to cut the pipe. The tool is built very well, just be careful with large pipes, you may have to make a starting cut first. The cut was very smooth and even.
I should have read the reviews first
Would Not RecommendI bought this cutter yesterday and the first cut (a 1/12 pvc) it crushed the pipe and broke it. Then I tried to spin the cutter around the pipe after the first click with the same result, pipe cracked. This cutter is a garbage and will be going back to the store.
Dear Bobby, we really appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear about the disappointing performance of our tool. The ratcheting mechanism of thi...
PVC Cutter
Would Not RecommendLooks good, but doesn't work well. Ratchet action binds up. Maybe the lennox brand is better. I had purchased a pair of pvc cutters from Lowes that were grey in color about a year ago. They were much better. I do not know what brand they were but Lowes should drop this brand and get the ones they used to sell.
Dear zeusaroo, We are really sorry to hear you had a problem with our PVC Cutter. The ratcheting mechanism of this tool is intended to provide a smoo...
Product broke during first use
Would Not RecommendI bought this tool thinking it would be a bargain, less than $30 for a cutter that can handle larger PVC. Unfortunately, the old adage that you get what you pay for came true. I attempted to cut through 2" PVC. The internal ratcheting mechanism snapped partway through the first cut. This was a very disappointing purchase. I will be returning it this week.

Not worth the money
Would Not RecommendCuts half way through PVC then just breaks the PVC at a crooked angle to the other side. Just use a hacksaw and make sure you clean up the burrs.

PVC cutter
Would Not RecommendThis tool would not cut the pvc pipeit tends to crush the pipe and I am not sure why. It is possible the blade is not sharp enough or the blade may be to thick but I could not get it to work even on thin wall pipe and it is recommended for various types of pipe. The quality of the tool looks very good it just did not work.

-That's one Heavy Duty Pipe Cutter!
Would RecommendThe is the best pipe cutter I have used to this day. Its rigid steel structure allows the user to apply maximum force without the possibility of damage to the tool. Its large mouth easily fits a 2-1/2 inch PVC pipe and will cut through it with ease. This cutter has a series of gears that will lock up as it cuts in, minimizing the amount of effort needed to get through a tough pipe, all while eliminating the possibility of losing your spot. To unlock, simply open up the handles as far as they can...
Cuts thick stuff well
Would RecommendThe only problem I have found with these cutters is that it may take 2 hands for a normal size person to be able to ratchet it. It seems you have to open the handles very wide to reset for the next ratchet/cut. Other than that make cutting thick PVC pipe easy.
BrassCraft PVC Cutter
Would RecommendReceived this handy thing to test for the manufacturer since I am a Lowe's Loop member. Thought it would be a great addition to the tool supply and also easier to use than a saw for cutting larger pieces of PVC. It works on a ratchet principle. The manufacturer also sent along a piece of P 15 140 pipe to practice on, which was a great idea. But the pipe sample is hugely large and hard to cut with this in my hand. I personally was not able to use this, as I have smaller hands than men and could ...
Dependable PVC Cutter
Would RecommendI live on a farm and am quite a crafty mom. I make things with PVC pipe frequently, but cutting/sawing it proved to be a pain many times. (I have made fire crackers, candles, signs, etc.) I was pleased to check out this 2 1/2" cutter. It was such a dream to use. It cuts with ease and always gives the clean and accurate cut I need. I was a little intimidated at first being that I am no plumber just a crafter, but it was so simple to use I became a pro in no time. It is easy to store and safer and...
Does not work according to instructions.
Would RecommendIf the tool is beginning a cut from the exact center of the pipe segment, it might cut straight. However, if the cutter is near the end of the pipe, it will partially collapse the pipe and the cut will be crooked. Most fittings do not have flanges extended enough to ensure proper joining of the pipe. Due to working pressures, in most cases, complete joint adhesion is very important. A cutter that rotates around the pipe is beneficial for that purpose. They always make a straight cut.
So easy
Would RecommendThe product is well constructed. The design makes it very easy to cut PVC pipe. The tool fits nicely in the hand. Huge time saver as it only takes a few seconds to cut the pipe. The cut edges are very smooth and no need to file. A great product for the handyman as well as an arts and crafts person.
Really liked this PVC Cutter
Would RecommendI really like this cutter. It is very easy to use, goes thru the pipe quickly and feels good in my hand. It did not seem to matter what the diameter of the PVC was, up to its maximum size of 2.5 inches, it cut them all very nicely and easy. If you can grip someone’s hand you can use this. I have told all my friends and now I am telling you. Hope this is helpful.
