So far so good

I bought another brand from Amazon and the blade broke after 3 cuts. Ran up to Lowe's to buy a replacement so I could finish my pool project and grabbed the Brasscraft. Made about 40 cuts pretty easily. The blade on the Brasscraft is more substantial than the other brand. I am still a bit reserved after seeing all of the problems other reviewers had, but so far this one is holding up. Has been a real time saver, sure beats a saw.

Unexpectedly good tool for ~25$ (May 2017)

I read about ten reviews before i bought this tool. Every review i read basically called this tool doa. But it Looked and Hefted like it Should work ok, and i was desperate to get something that would cut 2" pvc quicker and cleaner than a saw would, and in tighter places. Pipe Cutter

Exactly what I needed for Small home project Does clean, straight pipe cuts with ease.

don't do it!

I read several reviews describing the problems with this cutter. but I still bought it. What was I thinking? it has all the problems described. This is a waste of time. Use a saw or another tool instead for 1.5" pipe. I should mention that I also have the smaller brasscraft cutter for 1.25" pipe. It works fine. But not this larger 2" cutter.

Broke during its first use....JUNK!!!!

3/4 of the way through its first pvc pipe cut, the blade broke off. I need to find one that is much better made. I would not recommend this one.

2" pipe cutter

Would not recommend this cutter. Cut 1 pipe then broke. Returned to lowes for refund.

I just bought and used this cutter, and initially tried to trim off a half-inch of 2 inch PVC. It shattered the pipe about 3/4 through the pipe after severely deforming it. Next, as a trial I tried to cut a 3 inch piece, and it cut through the pipe, but it added 1/4 inch to my desired length. Lastly, I needed a 4.5 inch section for my drain, tried the cut and it again added 1/4 inch to the length. It will go back to the store tomorrow.

It is slightly harder to cut the 2½ inch pipe but it does the job.

These reviews are not accurate very good tool

I read the reviews was iffy went and bought it any way. I needed it for a job to cut thick sdr35 pipe 2in diameteter polyurotheyne pipe had to do eight water meter pits with 16 water lines this tool meaning I probably cut the pipe around 50 times , it did a phenomenal job did not break highly durable I was in the mud and tool worked as advertised. Cast metal blade. Bad blade design

Bought this 2 months ago. Used it 2 times on 2 inch pvc pipe then two small chunks came off blade. Now I spent thousands of dollars at lowes. This was 24.00 dollars and I know I can expect some less than perfect results for the price. So I filed the blade smooth and did 10 more 2 inch cuts. I did have at least 5 of the cuts were not squared off. Half way through the pvc pipe and the blade started to torque to one side. piece of garbage i returned it the same day

this is a piece of garbage I returned it the same day it does not cut the pipe it shatters it. I tried it on old pipe and i tried it on brand new pipe that i bought when i bought this. It made the job more difficult because of it not working as advertised and it was made worse by the fact that i had was working in a crawl space stay far far away

No good for anything over 1-1/2"

Tried to use this on 2" and 2-1/2" PVC and CPVC pipe. It was very, very difficult, wouldn't make a straight cut and couldn't be used. It is not rigid enough so the blade wanders and it does not have enough mechanical leverage to cut larger pipe.

Worthless

The first one broke after only making a few cuts, the second one broke on the first cut. Wish I could rate it at 0 stars.

Not one cut made

Tried to make the first cut and it breaks. A 1/4 way through a 2" pvc pipe and the ratchet mechanism breaks. Worthless.

Works great (once you figure out the technique)!

I purchased this cutter in an attempt to make replacing the suction plumbing on my old hot tub/spa a bit easier in tight quarters. This tool is a huge time saver. I used it to cut 2" flexible PVC and it works as advertised. There were a few instances where the cutter tended to crush the pipe instead of cutting thru; you can't just squeeze and ratchet through the pipe when this happens. When the pipe shows the first signs of crushing, back off on squeezing the handles and squeeze them gently ...

Can't get a square cut

I tried this cutter. It does cut through the PVC fairly easily. I just could not find a way to get a square end to my cut. My understanding is that a square end is critical for a solid connection when two pieces are joined. What I found is that when I squeezed the handles the PVC would deflect. That caused the blade to cut the PVC at an angle rather than square.

A so-so tool

This pipe cutter LOOKS very nice, and if you've got patience and don't mind giving up some of the simplicity that the tool has built into it, it's OK. This is my second one of them. The first one broke on the second cut that I made, so I figured that was maybe a fluke. This one broke on the first cut. :( Even though they broke, if you jiggle them just right, you can make them work. Usually. The part that breaks is the spring that opens the blade when you're done with the cut....so it does...

Got to get the right one

If you have the time to find one that does the job right, this is a great product for the price.
