very thick and hard to apply with brush
this primer did its job by adhering to semi varnished wood and hiding stains. But the primer is very thick and developed little clumps on my brush while I was painting. The can says not to thin so I was hesitant to try. Next time I plan to use a roller brush to see if this helps.
Paint
Would RecommendI have not used it yet. Ray from paints knows everything. I trust it will be perfect.

The Z is part of the product.
Would RecommendIt's the best oil primer available to me. It's got enough body to not drip off the brush.

!!VENTILATION REQUIRED!!
Would RecommendI made the mistake of using this in a closed bathroom, and got wrecked. Please know this is a VERY STRONG AND ODOROUS stain blocker AND NEEDS TO BE WELL VENTILATED! It took me an hour to zero out from the dizziness. A++ Zinsser Cover Stain!

Very dependable
Would RecommendCover Stain is a very dependable product. I have used it many times inside and outside, and it has never failed. I used it this time to prime laminate counter tops as it is also an excellent bonding primer and very sandable. For this home project, I sanded and cleaned the counter tops, applied two coats of Cover Stain, sanding lightly between each coat. I then applied two coats of Sherwin Williams Emerald (with urethane), followed by two coats of oil polyurethane.

Best primer I've used so far
Would RecommendI used this primer to refinish some cabinets and I tried painting over a cabinet that still had a gloss finish on it just to see how this primer would hold up. let it sit for 24 hours and to my surprise it held up very well. not very many oil based stains out there that can do that.

Chips
Would Not RecommendI used this oil based primer against my better judgement because some blogger recommended it. I have have great success with zinnser in the past to cover stains and block odors on floors and drywall. This time I used it as the primer on an oak table that I had spent hours sanding. I'm so so disappointed. The primer doesn't soak into the wood and adhere, it just sits on top; so it nicks every time a chair bangs into the legs of the table. I will have to resand and prime the table the way I used t...
