40 Watt equivalent - not really but better

Would Recommend

The three I tried have color very similar to a standard soft white bulb (maybe just a little bit bluer). If you look at the specs for this bulb and a 40 watt incandescent bulb, the lumens spec is very close. But, lumens is a misleading specification. A standard light bulb shines in a spherical pattern, this light bulb is hemi-spherical. As lumens is a measure of total light output, on a standard incandescent bulb half the light is going 'the other way'. So in a non-reflecting fixture, in the dir...

Great LED light. I got these on sale. 10 each. It is said to be 40-Watt Equivalent, but it feels more like 60 Watt equivalent. The light is pretty warm for an LED. Great product for a great price.

Work good

Would Recommend

We used 3 of these in our bathroom and replace 3 CFL's The are much brighter then the CFL's but we do have a white bathroom and the light produced is a much whiter light. We tried these in our second bath room which is painted a tanish color and they did not put off enough light. We also tried them in many of areas and the big issue we can into was they are still a direction light. Unlike CFL's which will throw light in almost all directions. The led bulbs give you about a 180 degree coverage. I...

nice bulb

Would Recommend

These bulbs put off a decent amount of light. Four in a bedroom light the room plenty and that's only 30 watts. And they are cooler than CFLs (as measured with a laser temp gauge by over 50 degrees).

A huge improvement over CFL

Would Recommend

We had four CFL lights in our dining room on a dimmer, which as you probably know do not dim. If you can afford the price difference, you can get these babies with very nice quality light, good dim range, and incredible power efficiency.

Excelent!

Would Recommend

This bulb is VERY bright, closer to a 60w bulb than a 40w. It has a nice natural color (not greenish like the Sylvania I bought for twice as much). I have used it with both a wireless remote controlled ceiling fan and a touch dimmer lamp, and this bulb dimms very well. It will not work in a 3-way lamp, it will turn on to full brightness, but not give you the three dimmed steps. The main reason I bought this was the very low amount of heat it puts out. My bedroom gets very warm, compared to the r...

My first try at the LED light bulb

Would Recommend

The color and illumination is great, and I think that it is brighter than the CFLs. There is not that little pause when first turning on the LED that the CFLs have, and I am hopping that the LEDs will last longer with large on/off counts. The CFLs do not last very long with constant on/off when used in places like the kitchen, garage and such placed that get lots of in and out traffic. Another thing I like is that the LED does not use Mercury and hope that it can be manufactured in the U.S.A.. ...

Great Bulb/Even Better Value

Would Recommend

This bulb is really great and a heck of a deal right now. It is definitely brighter than a 40W equivalent CFL. One word of caution, the globe part of the bulb does not get hot, but the metal fins underneath get very warm. Also, as with most LED bulbs, the outward projection of light is really great, but not much is projected below. Still, is a great bulb!!

Light is a good bright light, not harsh, soft, as good if not better than a filament bulb. No heat. Looking for a long life from this bulb.

Not energy star qualified, and odd design, cheap!

Would Recommend

First off, I am an Environmental Manager and have been for several major corporations, and keep up with green technology, especially LEDs. I've just been waiting for them to get the lumens (light value) up and the price reasonable. I was a little leery buying due to the fact that its not energy star rated, which means the LEDs may dim over time as have other non energy star LED's (under the cabinet, etc) I have bought in the past (1-2 years ago), but comparable certified bulbs seem to be $30 (se...

Best LED for the money

Would Recommend

At the $10 price tag that these are going for, they can't be beat. It's well known that LED bulbs cast a directional light, ie: if you were to put them in a downward-facing fixture the ceiling is not illuminated. I particularly like these in recessed lighting inside our basement's suspended ceiling. For that application you cannot tell the difference between these and CFLs. The only real complaint is that in our chandelier with "flower-shaped" alabaster glass these lights remind me of 1950s era ...

Pleasantly Impressed

Would Recommend

I've been watching the emergence of LED bulbs and waiting for the prices to become (somewhat) realistic. When Lowe's dropped the highly inflated retail price of this bulb to something less than highway robbery, I decided it was worth purchasing a few to try the technology. Although this bulb's heatsink (the metallic base) runs a bit warm, this bulb produces a sufficient amount of light for a typical bedroom or living room lamp. The light output is very clean and balanced - not yellow, red or blu...

Homeowner and LED fan

Would Recommend

I have purchased and own many LED flashlights over the last 5 yrs. Technology, quality, and lumens of LEDs continues to improve as to be marketable for home use. Though still expensive, LEDs are an excellent alternative to incandescent or cfl bulbs. I have purchased and installed them as landscape lights and night lights, but have been hesitant to use them as primary lights in the house until now. The quality of the LED is not excellent, but very good. For the price, you will not find a better ...
