This LED light bulb received mixed reviews. Customers found the bulb to be brighter than expected, with a warm and natural-looking light output. They appreciated the energy efficiency, instant-on capability, and cool operating temperature. However, many experienced premature failures, with some bulbs burning out within a few months. I have roughly 15 to 20 LED's bulbs already from different brands in my house, Toshiba, Sylvania and some Chinese off-brand I bought on eBay. I was today on my local Lowes and saw these bulbs and bought one to try it. I usually do a couple of tests, first I compare side by side with two lamps at plain sight to a 13w CFL and the only difference I noticed was the LED bulb kept the same brightness from the moment I turn it on to the moment I turn it off. (10 min), CFL as many people know, takes a w...

Difficulty Dimming w/ Lutron LED Dimmer...

I bought these bulbs on sale for $10. Taking into consideration the price I paid I believe this bulb to be an excellent value. I put 9 of these bulbs in a chandelier that previously had CFL's. Some of the negatives I have experienced which I would find unacceptable had I paid full price. The color temperature of the bulbs varies from one bulb to another. It appears I have several that are about 2700K to 2800K and the majority of the bulbs are 3000K. Although not a big issue, it is bothersome wh...

Great lighting, lower bills

Would Recommend

I tried out two of these bulbs at our computer desk where they're on for about 2/3 of the day... they're great! We noticed immediately that even though they were slightly dimmer than the 60 watt bulbs we replaced, they seem to permeate the room better, giving a warm, even lighting all over. Since then we have bought six more bulbs, and can light up most of our house with 60 watts! The initial investment is a little steep (we've been buying the bulbs on sale for about $10/ea), but the promise of...

So far, so good

Would Recommend

I've enjoyed these so far, but I've only had them for a couple of months. The real test for something this expensive is how long it lasts. Pros: -As other reviewers mentioned, it looks brighter than it claims. I suppose that's because the light it puts out is only coming out half a sphere, and the measurement for a normal light bulb is probably done all the way around. -Energy savings should pay for highly-used bulbs in a couple of years -Nice light, not blue-hued Cons: -Doesn't fit in one flo...

Excellent Value Compared to CFLs & w/o the Mercury

Would Recommend

I purchased 10 of these (at $9.98) within the past month and placed them into fixtures that tend to be left on. I prefer the LED bulb's light color and color rendition when compared to the CFL's. The only problem that I have noted with these fixtures is that they are only a 40W equivalent. I also purchased a major brand 60W LED bulb and I would prefer the 60W equivalent bulb. However, at this time the 60W LED bulbs are still ~3-4 times the cost. Lastly, the bulbs durability is yet to be determin...

A good deal for the price

Would Recommend

I am surprised to read so many stellar reviews of these bulbs, because they're certainly good (especially for the price) but I wouldn't call them great. My big issue with them is the color, which strikes me as extremely sterile and icy white and therefore unsuitable for an environment like a kitchen or bath where color is important, and where people may be accustomed to the warm glow from a dimmed incandescent bulb. Putting the bulbs in a lamp with a tan shade helps things a bit, but then you ha...

I purchased a few of these lights and was excited to be able to replace my regular light bulbs on my dimmer switches, but the dimming function did not work.

Excellent value

Would Recommend

I use two of these in my family room as ambient lighting behind our seats while watching TV. It give a nice, warm light and should last a long time while saving lots of energy. Because they tend to send the majority of their light toward the ceiling, the are better suited as ambient light rather than as a reading lamp.

Brighter than I expected.

Would Recommend

7 1/2 watt LED Light. It works with our dimmer. We use it as a night light. It's much better than the CFL we were using. Better color, instant on, more durable, lower power, longer life. What's not to like, except the cost, but I got it on sale. I'm glad I got two.

good bulb

Would Recommend

Overall , gives off a little less light than CFL and incandescent , however , the six bulbs I put in my kitchen high-hats are using less electricity (aprox.-54 watts total) than one of the original incandescent bulbs ( 65 watts a piece ). 390 watts before compared to 54 watts now. They don't fit the cannister as well as the flood bulb type , but after a few days I didn't even notice it. I've redone almost all of my house with Led's and save approx. $20 off my electric bill per month.

Great LED bulb

Bought four for most use locations around the house for about a month now. They are not dim at all like other LED bulbs I tried before. Definitely recommend to everyone that can afford these.

A great "everyday" LED bulb

Would Recommend

This bulb is a soft white color, but is actually a decent amount brighter in color and light output than its incandescent counterpart.

Happy

Would Recommend

We ordered 8 lightbulbs to test the "savings" of LED lights while they were on sale. Only had them for about 2 weeks so can't say much yet. One of the bulbs made a small popping noise and didn't work after about 30 min of use, probably just a defective bulb. Other than that, so far so good.

VERY EXCELLENT!!!!

Would Recommend

I purchased five bulbs tried in different areas of our home found that the bulbs puts out quality color with a bright look/ more than a 40w compared bulb. (looks to be more like a 60w) I feel the bulb projects light more forward than a all around lighting. Works well in a canned light fixture, or a specific projected area. However works great in bedroom lighting or in ceiling fan lighting. Great buy a 9.98 at lowes.

Best LED ever

Would Recommend

We changed our TVs from plasma to LED and what a difference in heat production. When these lights came out, we were skeptical because we HATE the florescent equivalent and couldn't find a light we liked. We put these bulbs in a few lights and quickly changed the others out. Remember, if you use these lights, they are DIRECTIONAL, meaning that they work similar to a flashlight and not a 110-120 angle beam. These lights are great for bar/bathroom lights but not candelabras, etc. We have them in ou...

features: like others have said, it puts out more light than a 40w, maybe more like a 60w. There is still some directionality that is ok for downlighting [can lights] or task lighting [a gooseneck reading desk lamp] but not so good for general ambient illumination like a ceiling light in that the heat sink rim leaves a shadow ring on the walls. I havent tried the dimmer capability yet, so dont know about that feature. The color is warm white, but like all LEDs skin tones look funny, kinda purple...
