Ratings & Reviews for Timberline 2 -cu ft All natural Hardwood bark Hardwood Mulch

What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise this mulch for its natural, undyed composition and effectiveness in moisture retention and weed control. Many highlight its soil-enriching properties, lack of chemical additives, and long-lasting performance, making it ideal for organic gardening. The coarse texture and 2-inch application depth deliver reliable results. However, some report inconsistent shredding quality, with complaints of oversized wood pieces, rocks, and occasional mold or metal debris. Despite these drawbacks, most customers consider it a dependable choice for garden beds and slopes.

Would Not RecommendLowes Hardwood Mulch was my go to mulch for years for my large amount of landscaping (500+plants). Spring 2025 something changed. Instead of being a nice aged brown color it's now the color of arborist's wood chips-very light. I can get wood chips for free, so I won't be paying for this stuff.

Not a fine shred which can be seen through bags.
Would RecommendGood mulch for areas I needed to cover. Did find small white stones in some bags. Rough shred like I prefer.

Different colors
Would RecommendNot all the bags were the same color, didn’t think it was supposed to be a colored type because this is what I always get so hopefully it will blend better with time.

Wet mulch bags not the same.
I purchased 65 bags. 15 of the bags were very wet. I spread all the mulch and assumed the wet mulch would dry to the same color. Unfortunately that didn’t happen. Now I have a distinct color difference in my flowerbed. In addition the texture of the wet mulch is more like charcoal rather than shredded mulch. Unfortunately I can’t put this mulch back in the bags and return it. Make sure you get dry mulch!
