Just doesn't trim closely enough

Read the instructions.....tried and tried to get this to trim closely. I'm going to try something pricier just to see if you get what you pay for.

Not very effective....

This product is not very effective in trimming veneer. The angle of the blades requires considerable pressure to cut, and this caused yellow plastic to rub off on the surface of the plywood. Maybe some people will have better luck, but I ended up using a utility knife.

Waste of money

The blade is just far enough from the surface that additional trimming and sanding is needed. Save your money.

Waste of Money!

The trimmer sits flush with the wood, but the blade doesn't. Will only trim if there is quite a bit of an overlap, but leaves excess. Returning.

Worthless

This device is a complete was of money. Foregone this and by a block sander and sand paper. Less frustration and money

Disappointed

I was looking forward to using this tool as an alternative to the utility knife, file, sandpaper and trim router methods I've been using to trim normal-thickness iron-on wood edge banding. With between 1/16 and 1/8 of excess to be trimmed, this trimmer would not cut at all, regardless of how much downward and sideways pressure was applied. Not Worth The Money

Not worth the money, just use a utility knife. It's a good idea in theory, but the blade constantly lifts, ending the cut early. Then once this happens, there's no recovering the cut because the veneer is now a ramp and the blade will just ride over it. I gave it a go for about five minutes of swearing, and then just used a utility knife to cut the veneer like I always have. Wish I could return this item, but I don't have the receipt anymore.

Trimmer Works as Stated

My husband was putting the final touches on a toy case, sort of like a bookcase, but made with milk crates and boards and stocked with toys and books. He put a white veneer on the edges facing front and used the trimmer to finish the edges of the boards. It worked as expected and well worth the purchase.

Do Not Recommend

I have built homes, cabinets and furniture and have worked in a cabinet shop. The blades on the trimmer I have used in the past were dull and I couldn't get new blades for it or one like it in less than 2 days so I decided to try this one. It seems to work somewhat well on a piece where you can start at an end, but even that, it doesn't cut real close and you have to use something else, like a razor knife, sand paper or file, to remove the last little bit of protruding edges. Overall good tool

I trimmed the first set of shelves with my router. Then I saw this tool. It works. It is pretty much dummy proof. You have to make sure the blades are inserted in the correct direction (mine were not) and that you pay attention to the glue and shavings. If the blades are backwards it won't cut. If shavings or glue get behind a blade, it will cut too much. Not much different than a carpenters plane. Take care of your tool, and it will take care of you. Based on the reviews I must’ve purchased a bad one. Definitely going back to the store. Crap.

Does't work

The description says easily replaceable blades. Use single bevel blades. For some reason the manufacture used double bevel blades and you can not trim flush with a blade that has a bevel towards the work piece. I could probably go out and buy the required single bevel blades but it just makes me angry enough that it was manufactured with the wrong blades that I am just going to return it and buy a different brand.

Easy to use

I used this to trim banding on project and it work great did just what it was supposed too

Did not seem to work too well (for me)

I had two issues with this: 1. It didn't cut any material on most passes. 2. When it did cut (with extra pressure), it occasionally dug in too far and gouged the edge banding. I am going to look for a double sided trimmer to avoid these issues.

Functions fairly well

This tool works pretty well, but I found I could get closer results with a good sharp blade in my case-cutter. Using either the trimmer or the case knife, I still had to sand down the edge, but it was easier when I left less material with the case-cutter.

Cuts through like it’s butter.

I purchased this edge trimmer with several rolls of edge banding to finish a plywood shelf I was building at the time. The trimmer works best with lots of pressure and trims the banding flush. È
