I've only had this for a week and have smoked a few things, but wanted to leave my initial impressions. For the money, I am blown away with the features of this smoker and the quality. Great Smoker

When I do smoke "which is quite often" I share with my neighbors. I can smoke 5 lbs of bacon and share with neighbors and people I work with.

Does not reach 350 deg. per the instructions

does not reach 350 deg per the instructions for seasoning grill. Max temperature reached was 250 deg.

It won’t last long

Second Masterbuilt smoker and I am losing this one due to extensive rust under the wood plate and collar above the flame holder (same problem with my first one). I used a cover for the smoker, cleaned out the cabinet every 2-3 uses and made sure interior was always dry. I have not had any problems regulating heat, the design is sufficient in my opinion. However, the materials used in the bottom plate (flame holder, collar, wood plate) have only lasted me about 18mo before fail. This was on both...

Receiving, assembly, performance

Arrived undamaged, assembly was simple and no missing parts. The temperature probe maintains the selected setting well. I have prepared about 50 lbs. of various meats so far and am very pleased with the results.

Improve Quality Control

The smoker works, but it arrived with a dent in the door and unfinished parts (I had to tap two screw holes to put it together). MASTERBUILT has a good product, but they need better quality control.

Great smoker, held temperature very close to set temperature consistently. Large capacity, Easy to add chips. Great flavor and easy to clean.

New Smoker Performs Despite Build Issues

Even though the shipping box was not damaged, there were several defects in workmanship on receipt of the smoker (poor corner welds, dinged and bent metal surfaces, components that did not fit well together for assembly, certain parts open and free in the box (screws, etc.). While these facts were discouraging, I still needed to get this one set up for a cook. My original delivery was incorrect and had to ship it back and wait to receive this one for weeks.
