Wow, where do I begin. I guess the first clue that this was a piece of junk was when Lowes had 7 of these and every one of them had been rifled through to swap out parts because the wood was junk and the holes for the screws look like they were drilled by a 2 year old. Unit is Ok for what it is. CON: you have to drill your own mounting holes. CON:the predrilled holes for the adjusting screws were drilled very poorly. A lot of splintering was present. They must have used a very dull spade bit to do them.

Perfect replacement.

I should have taken before and after pictures. Like night and day. I am a perfectionist and very hard to please but this comes as close to a perfect replacement part as I have ever seen. Easy to install, perfect fit and professional in appearance.

Replaced rotted threshold on exterior basement door. First of all, the operation of the adjustment is confusing to many reviewers. The adjustment (up force) is derived from the plastic washer/retainers that are installed on the screws on bottom side (inside "U" ) of adjustable wood strip. Yes, the "up force" for adjustment depends on friction of this washer/retainer on shank of the screw. I needed a 36" threshold. Bought one, and when I was installing it noticed that although the aluminum part was 36", the wood part was too short. So if you need 32" you can just cut it. I went back and exchanged it not expecting 2 screw ups, and the 2nd one had the same problem. I went back, and looked through about 7 others, and they were all like that. I ended up buying the non adjustable type.

Installation Difficulty

Not crazy about the untreated wood support on tge bottom. If you plan to install this product on a concrete slab, recommend using TCon and treat the wood prior to putting your select adhesive. Doesnt leave any room for added moisture protection unless you caulk around it. Great for wood or other non concrete doorway applications, doorway going out onto a wood deck.

Less than pallet grade wood prone to rot

Overall this product is marginal -- the aluminum extrusion frame and its surface anodizing are "ok", of average to below average "builders" quality. The self adjusting feature is a design plus but the (captive) retaining washers used to hold the adjusting screws in place aren't up to standards, slide down preventing proper height/ installation. The wood (notched to fit in the aluminum frame) is inferior, sub grade, less than pallet quality and if exposed to any moisture will deteriorate in a ...
