Nice post cover but the screws that attach the cover to the 4x4 post are chrome. They should be the same color as the post cover, which is brown.

Not as easy to put together with mailbox as I thought it would be. Kinda hard to get to bolts to tighten

I didn't want a plastic post. This worked well. Is the correct height for the USPS. I was disappointed that the screws were so cheap that they stripped easily, and I was also disappointed that the screws to screw the metal frame to the 4x4 were silver and did not match the frame.

Gibraltar Mailbox Post

This item requires a separate 4x4 post which is not included. Lowe's does not sell 4 foot posts either. So you have to make a post by buying an 8 foot post or cutting a 2x4 in two and attaching the two pieces together. Package lacked the required hardware. I had to find hardware to put this post together. I would not buy this again.

Happy with our purchase

We are happy with our purchase, which included free shipping to our door. The post is sturdy when installed as directed using a pressure treated 4x4 post (must purchase separately).

Good compromise for a mailbox post

Good compromise for a mailbox post - the construction is pretty solid. The main vertical square tube is aluminum. The support for the mailbox is steel. I like that it comes with screws and bolts for a typical install. I did have parts left over as the assembly methods depend partially on the size of mailbox that you want to attach. The Bronze color is nice. There is no problem slipping over a 4"x4" post. This new post has good curb appeal. I would recommend Architectural Mailboxes Belle...

Large, Sturdy Post

I purchased this post to replace a very thin and decrepit mailbox. I love the elegant simplicity of this post and how sturdy it seems. It is also pretty tall so you can raise the post height a bit on your replacement.You will need a wooden 4x4 in order to mount it and the instruction is a grid on the outside of the box, so don’t throw it away.

First damaged, second Okay

The first one that I received was damaged and had been returned to the St. Charles, IL store, and then sent to me! It did not have all the parts, had paint chipped off, the pieces had just been crammed into the box, and the St. Charles, IL store did nothing to check it before sending it to me. I know it was the St. Charles, IL store because it was on the mailing label, and my local store manager confirmed it. Since this was over $50, Lowe's required that I return it at the Lowe's store before ...

Heavy duty mail box

After several plastic post this one is heavy duty and should last year's. You get what you pay for.
