Tried for 1 hour and gave up

Resurfacing an old deck using Trex. Tried these as it was all my Lowes have. It was impossible it install the first board by myself. It would take 3 people with rubber hammers it get it installed. I gave up and returned the unused boxes. It was a $43 lesson. Dont waste your time or money. Order the Trex clips. They work great, especially if you’re working single handed.

First there are too many starting strips in each box. About 20% starting clips. The screws are a light aluminum that easily strips the heads or snaps off especially in older woods! The screw to clip ratio is way off! Not enough to use all the clips if you want to! There is no way you are doing a 50 square feet section with this box, tops is 25-30 square feet at best! Very expensive and cheap! The clips are decent but that is it, the only good about the set. But they can bend causing misalignmen...

Tin screws

DO NOT USE THESE!!!!! The screws are so soft any resistance and they strip out. Clips themselves are good but the screws are garbage.

Disappointed with the quality for the price

The screw easily strips. Only a few end clips are included and the.end clips cannot be bought separately. You would need a lot of end clips when doing picture frame effect. There should be an option to buy end clips without buying the whole box. With its price, the quality is disappointing. It is actually the most expensive among the clips that are sold in the market

The screws are atrocious

The clips are great...HOWEVER, the included screws are awful, atrocious, heinous, lousy, sub-par, less than adequate, just plain bad. I stopped in the middle of laying my deck to write this review. Stripped over half the screws that I've tried to secure the clips with. Spent more time cutting stripped screws than I have cutting deck boards. Tried using two different drills, but same result...half-driven stripped screws. If you buy these clips, get better screws.

Quick and easy

I started using Trek clips, and after 5 rows gave up. With the trek you have to push the board tight and get the clip caught, then slide the next board then tighten. So your doing the same screw twice, also don't accidentally over tighten or the screw goes completely through the cheap plastic clip, backing it out seemed to leave a bit of wiggle so then you have to change the clip. Another part that was bad was if keeping pressure to hold it tight in place, I could not do it alone. The final look...

lousy product

Do NOT use these. they are not worth the effort. they are not quick and easy, they are hard to hold straight, and the next board is very hard to slip in and keep straight. the trex clips look better and easier to use but I have not tried them. there are also not enough start stop clips depending on your deck design. DONT but the universal start clips that Lowe's lists online as they are only start clips and cannot be used as stop clips without some tricky drilling. all in all I am very unsatisfi...

Stripped

The spacers themselves are fine and serve its purpose as they should. But the screws that are provided are absolute garabage. They strip out with any bit of force, and if you need to back the screw out for any reason you are SCREWED! Buy the spacers separately and purchase quality screws.

Best Hidden Fastener Out There

Just finished a 400 sq.ft. deck using Fiberon decking and VersaClips. The clips pulled the board flat to the joist and the small u-shaped on the side created the 1/4" gap. The main thing that needs to be done is the starting board has to be straight. The rest is a piece of cake.

These worked very well. I especially liked the fact that there were no nails or screws showing.

Makes for a nice installation

These make for a neat installation and keeps the spacing even. The only complaint I have with them is the screw heads are soft and the square head slot strips out easy. They should put extra screws in the box for this allowance.

Clips work well, alot better than having to use screws. Creates a great look to your deck not seeing any screws. Just think they are high in price.

Very over priced

Product worked fine but way to expensive. I can see why most contracting companys skimp the Trex install and don't purchase them.
