Totally a step up from the first generation xr!

Good drill, doesn’t last though, red brand better

Been using dewalt all my life and this hammer drill in particular and the model before it both have the same issue, hammer and trigger becomes intermittent. I’ve taken the liberty to open mine up because it’s past warranty and I happen to be an electrician with motor knowledge and noticed wires that had the insulation knicked off and a burning smell coming from the clutch area. Now the clutch has sieved entirely. poor craftsmanship. I love the yellow and black but it’s just not up to par.

Disappointed

Its my first hammer drill given to me as a gift on Christmas 2016. I used it sparingly until now as I'm drilling a single hole through an 8" concrete foundation. The dril did an awesome job but I needed to make the hole a bit larger. This time around after getting a larger diameter bit the drill would stop after a few minutes. I would pull the trigger...nothing, then it would start and stop, start and stop. Its not the batteries they are were fully charged. Checked U tube, the 20 V drills h...

Great Tool with Lithium battery. Drill works fine and very comfortable in hands.

Serious workhorse

Only had it for a couple months but I can easily say it's by far the most powerful cordless I've ever wrapped my fingers around. This thing is awesome. Love the work light, and the grip. Manageable for a heavier drill because of the balance and grip. Bores into 5000 lb concrete like butter. I never liked drilling concrete until I got this drill. Dewalt knocked it out of the park with this one.

Great when it was working

I loved this drill. It did everything I needed it to do and then 1 year and 3 days later the entire drill dies. Nothing happens when I pull the trigger. At first I thought the battery died but the drill died. I wish I knew that the problem isn't with newer models because I don't know if I should go with a company that has products only last days over a year.

Died after a year

Bought this about a year ago. It has been used heavily and worked well. Now nothing happens when I pull the trigger.

awesome hammer drill/driver

best hammer drill i have ever owned . the drill easily handles everything i do . even better is the dcd996p2 kit . the batteries seem to hold a charge forever and charge very quickly . whether you purchase the bare hammer drill/driver or or any of the kits with batteries and charger you wont be disappointed . thanks again Dewalt for another truly great product .

Great power, short life.

Has great speed and torque. Sadly trigger assembly or something died after two months after receiving as a gift.

Great Drill

Love this drill! Drills right through all kinds of stuff without issue, love the worklight feature as well as the multiple speeds. Solid construction, quality brushless motor. The only thing I wish DeWalt would have changed was the coating/material of the collar. I have never had this drill exposed to heavy moisture and the chuck collar is starting to rust.

Great upgrade from my 18V XRP Drill

I purchased this tool as a replacement for my well used 18V XRP hammer drill it was my first entry into the 20V platform and I have not been disappointed!
