Would Recommendlots of torque! Great drill. Used for pre-drilling holes in concrete blocks. No complaints about this hammer drill.
bad tool. similar reviers back this up.
Would Not RecommendUsed this tool for 5 holes and went dead. No smoke. No smell. Nothing. Just went dead. No lights. Tested several batteries. All where good. Looking at similar reviews this is a common problem with the dcd996. It will fail if you use it more than infrequently. DO NOT BUY!
Worked for awhile
Would RecommendI bought this drill in July it worked great until it didn't. I took it back to where I bought it but they said I needed my receipt to warranty the product. I feel their should be a better way to track warranty in today's day and age. I have my wife looking for that receipt but that is probably going to cost me as much as the drill. I putting yes on the recommendation because of lack of information. Dewalt should add a maybe button to this page.

Great drill
Would RecommendI purchased this just a few days ago, and I have already used it several times. Very solid feel. The metal chuck is a nice feature, you can feel when the bit is firmly locked in. I have been wanting to replace all of my old 18v Dewalt tools, but I was a little leary. Not so anymore, if the rest of the line is as solid as this drill, I will definitely buy them too.

Great Drill I thought!
Bought this Brushless hammer drill January 2020 to replace two older brushed models that finally gave up the ghost ( 5 plus years old). I am a die hard Dewalt person. You open up my truck boxes and all you see is yellow and black. Well yesterday I was using the drill on a home project and the drill started making a funny grinding, popping noise while drilling in torque/speed 2 setting. Well a short time later it quit. Locked up tight. Will not go forward or reverse. Something to do the gearing...

Meets all of my expectations
Would RecommendPerfect for my home shop. My tools get a lot of use by me, my grandchildren, and my neighbors. I could not expect any more from a drill. I will likely purchase a second one for use when mine is borrowed.

Great BUT!!!!
Would RecommendStarting with the bad. Keep in mind i don't like this drill and I'm rating it 4 stars of 5. The missing star is because it's Achilles heel. I'll talk about that first so you don't do it. NEVER EVER EVER run the drill at high load AND run the batteries dead. You can do one or the other (it's never suggested to run lithium ion dead) but not both it'll cook your drill. There's no thermal or over-current protection. The motor takes the abuse perfectly and wasn't even hot on disassembly. But the...

junk
Would Not RecommendThis review it is NOT for Lowes. Lowes are great! It is particularly for newest 20V brushless hammer drill by DeWalt. After 6 7 months of light use it started to make strange noises and a day later completely failed. Never been wet, never been ubused (like my old Makita cordless drill) Small holes for plastic anchors, 3/4 -1 inch holes thru 2x4 and so on. Their new Sawzall is even worst- didnt last even a 3 mounts. Batteries - total disaster- already 2 dont get charge at all. My fault? Yeah- ...
Problem with chuck loosening when on hammer mode
Has anyone else had trouble with the chuck loosening while on hammer mode? Every time I use it it loosens and I have to keep my hand there so bit wont fly away

Poor Quality control
Would Not RecommendThis drill is either a poorly designed tool or Lowes got a bad lot. Background. I own a lot of dewalt tools. From a framing hammer to the high end table saw. Of the 20v tools i have most of the collection and 10 batteries i have bought over time. I plain terms i believe i have an idea of what to expect from dewalt tools. Analysis. I have bought and returned 2 of these drills over a 2 week time frame. Both went back. The issue is with the motor or the trigger. With both tools; when y...

This thing is awesome
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This drill paired with the 20v 6ah battery is a beast. I forget to charge the battery because it last forever.

Nice drill
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have enjoyed using this drill. The chuck works great, and it seems to have all the power I need. Only used the hammer drill a few times, but it worked great.

Another great Dewalt Drill
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this at a big box store after my previous Dewalt 18v drill started to drill crooked holes. I am very pleased with this upgrade! The drill runs very smoothly in all three speeds and has plenty of power. It's not suitable for automotive work, but it's not intended for that either. The metal chuck is a nice touch, but the finish on the chuck is not very durable at all. Having had the drill for a few months, the finish on the chuck is a...

Powerfil drill
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this drill about 9 months ago. This drill replaced my old ryobi hammer drill. This thing is powerful. Not too heavy nor light. Feels good in my hands. A quality tool that should last.

DCB
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Build Quality - sturdy, durable, not overly heavy but also not cheap-feeling in the hand. Great chuck quality, and selector switches are rugged. Brushless motor should be great for longer motor life. Performance - great performance, hammer function is a must for masonry drilling; no problems here. Light activates when in use helps see in dimly lit areas.

Great Power!
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This hammer drill has awesome power. I recently used it to put a ledger board on my house to build a deck and had to drill through brick. It made quick work of the project. Finding good drill bits is a another story when drilling through brick but the drill did its job.
