Great "workhorse"
Would RecommendI bought the hammer drill because I needed to drill eight 1/2" X 6" deep holes in re-enforced concrete. This hammer drill completed the job in about 20 minutes.

Dead too soon
Would Not RecommendI'm an industrial contractor. Bought about 10 pieces of it since 2016. 5 of them already dead and 2 of these 5 last less than 12 months. Gearboxes are too fragile. Dewalt needs to improve the quality of these machines. It's an evolution but it needs to be tough.

Quality and value
Would RecommendI find this drill to provide more than adequate power for most simple jobs. Battery life is excellent too. I’ve even found the belt clips to be handy albeit simple. Very easy to operate.

Hammer drill better than before
Would RecommendThis is my third one. Not complaining I put them thru the mill , definitely job site tough . much better hammer drill feature than the 2 older ni-cad models I had. And I really like the work light feature for the few times it`s needed. I give it 4 stars because it`s picky about using partialy charged batts but it`s a beast

Well designed and built. I like the performance of the drill in metal and boring through wood.

Love it
Would RecommendI had a Dewalt cordless set but the hammer drill was not included. I bought it so that I could drill with it and use the other drill/screw driver to tighten screws so that I didn't have to keep changing back and forth between a drill bet and screw driver head. Works great!

Powerful and Dependable!
Would RecommendIn need of a new hammerdrill and already having DeWalt batteries, I didn't hesitate to purchase the DeWalt DCD996B 1/2" 20V Max XR Brushless 3-speed model. The drill packs plenty of power with its 3 speed and 11 clutch settings. I've used it for drilling various size holes in concrete and I have been impressed at how well it has done the job each time, without excessive use of battery power. When not using the hammerdrill feature, I regularly use it as a second drill when working on larger pr...

DeWalt Hammer Drill
Would RecommendI purchased one of these a year ago and thought it was a good one. I just got this one for Christmas and it's 20 times faster and powerful as my old one. My old one didn't work right apparently. I love it! My old one had a regular light on it, this one stays on long enough for me to keep working. Also, the clip is nice, I didn't have one on my old one. Definitely will be buying another one of these next time I need another one!

Replaced my 18v hammer drill
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 18v hammer drill finally gave up after many good years. Soo far I like this unit. More power and lighter than my previous drill. The clutch is a transition as it is different than the old one but it seems to work well.

Plenty of power
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like the power of this drill, and the LED settings are really handy. It’s accomplished everything I’ve used it for with ease. The only downside it is pretty large compared to some of the newest competition. I think a new more compact model is due. Though, even with its size it’s still comfortable to hold and not too heavy.

Nice overall - wish it had built-in bit holder
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don’t use this as my every day drill (I also have a 20v compact drill), but when I need a large hole drilled or a hammer drill for concrete this really does a good job. Would have given 5 stars but for some reason dewalt decided to get rid of the built-in bit holders an make them an accessory you have to purchase separately. To me this is a big deal as I’m constantly changing from drill to driver and hate fumbling around looking for my driver...

I dig it
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this drill every day to drill through metal, wood, concrete, stone, etc. I got it to replace my old nicad so with the lithium ion battery it runs so much longer, the handle is far more comfortable than the old model, and it's got some serious torque. I didnt give it five stars because nothing is perfect and I dont want to insinuate it is.
