What Customers Are Saying

This chop saw receives mixed reviews. Many users find it powerful and well-made for cutting a variety of materials, though some report issues with accuracy and consistency, such as blade wobble and uneven cuts. Some also experienced electrical problems like tripping breakers. While capable for basic tasks, the saw may not be suitable for precision work or heavy-duty use. Careful operation and use of appropriate blades are recommended to get the best results.

Awesome Machine!

Would Recommend

I bought this a few months ago and works great. Like every chop saw the correct pressure is the key. 90 degree cuts and really smooth. I tried a 45 degree cut and it tweeked the cut off wheel so much that it cut into the base plate (picture attached), could have been operator error. Both cuts were 1.5" square tube .090 thickness. Regardless, I really enjoy using this saw. The keyless blade change is nice and the machine is very easy to move around the jobsite. The base is very sturdy as well.

Overall a good saw. The clamp takes awhile to get used to, but once you figure it out it is great! If you have a lot to cut the clamp will allow you to adjust quickly. The cutting disk that comes with it is also pretty good. Not disappointed with this purchase at all.

Still not good for miter cuts

Would Recommend

Very good power, comfortable handle and smooth operation. However, the "vise" will only cut miters in one direction (most are labeled at "zero" and go up to 45 degrees in each direction - this only goes in one direction. Even with that, blade wobble is bad enough you will not get a straight cut on a miter. I have had no problem with straight, 90 degree cuts. I mounted my old saw (it quit after 14 years) on a Delta wood miter saw folding table - cut out part of the sides, welded on "L" shaped...

Thank you Lowes

I found you for $169.99 but never bought any thing from there also never heard from any one that bought from there either so I took my phone with me and asked if they would match their price and they said gladly to do so.

Great saw, great deal

Would Recommend

I've read many of the reviews and was hesitant to purchase based on the price and potential of low quality. Neither is the case with this saw. As a welder and fabricator I've done my share of cutting. Seems obvious to me that the most negative reviews are from those who don't know that circuit breakers/circuits have a limited capacity. If yours if tripping using this saw then I guarantee you're issue is with the circuit, not the saw. How old is the breaker, what is the pre-load, and are you tryi...

Bad chop saw don't spin the extra money.

Would Not Recommend

I bought this saw after looking at reviews and decided on this unit. I paid twice as much as some comparable models based on name and when I buy a tool I keep it for a long time. I literally used this saw cutting 1 1/2" 1/8" angle iron hour for less than 3 hours making a hog a trap when it broke for the first time. The major flaw is the clamp on the under side. There is a cheap small keeper and a small washer that hold it on the under side. This came off at least a half a dozen more times while ...

Terrible saw.

Would Not Recommend

I truly hate this saw. It is very low powered, and will throw a breaker 2 to 3 times cutting 1.5" angle iron. It throws the 110 breaker on my Lincoln 256 welder also. It will throw breakers on startup, it doesn't need to touch steel to fail. A expensive boat anchor at best.

Doesn't cut straight, period.

There is no line to line it up. I suppose it doesn't matter anyway. Even after squaring it up, it still doesn't cut straight. Don't need straight cuts, then this piece of junk is for you.

Very Disappointing Chop Saw

Would Not Recommend

I have an extensive wood and metalworking shop. I've been buying and using power tools for over 50 years. I know a good tool when I use one, and I expect the tools I buy to deliver performance commensurate with the price I paid for them. I'm quite willing to pay for performance. I just purchased this saw, and it is quite disappointing. The saw cannot make a square cut. The saw, as it begins a cut, wanders far off the scribe mark where the blade made initial contact with the metal, making le...

Not their best product

Would Not Recommend

This unit is shipped with a cheap blade that struggles to cut anything other that thin wall tubing. Really disappointed and if I was not 250 miles from the nearest store it would be going back. Also it kicks the breaker on a 20 amp circuit (all the time) if you restart it after a short time (this is a newly wired garage). Not a lot of help from Dewalt but will be contacting their service center on Monday. Having whined about this unit enough - the other Dewalt products I have which include table...

D28715 Chop Saw

Would Recommend

Currently need to cut about 100 metal fence posts plus some rebar for fence project. Previously used 18V cordless angle grinder with a cutting wheel for a similar, but smaller project The 18V cordless will do the job, but much slower, requires a lot of cutting wheel changes at $3 a wheel, and battery recharges. On the other hand the chop saw goes thru the fence posts like a hot knife thru butter. Also, it seems I need to cut some steel every couple of months for a random project, but couldn't ju...

Out cut the competition!

Would Recommend

I needed to cut 96 pieces of 5/8 rebar to use on my homemade stair balusters and loft railing. First I borrowed a different brand cut-off saw from a friend. After slowly grinding through a few pieces , I figured it would take forever. (Just not enough power). Then went to Lowe's and bought a cut-off wheel for my power hand saw. This was awkward to hold the rebar and get a good cut. After just a few attempts, I went back to Lowe's and bought the Dewalt Cut-off saw with clamp and 14" wheel. This i...

A nice saw. Works really great with the Kobalt $80 diamond blade for cutting stone and pavers. Glad I bought this. Blade outperforms the previous, premium blade I had in another saw that broke. Not sure how long this saw will last, so can't give testament to longevity. Pull handle on this saw is very comfortable compared to the other models with straight handles and trigger.

Makes acceptable rough cuts in ferrous metal

Would Recommend

This is not a precision tool. It will "chop" ferrous metal as it was intended to do, but don't expect an accurate cut. Accuracy is around 1/8". It will cut non-ferrous metal, but the cuts are rough with a lot of burrs and flashing. If you need to make precise cuts, I recommend a metal-cutting saw with a good carbide blade. I would recommend this tool to a friend only for "chopping" ferrous metal.

Great Saw , did everything i needed it to

Would Recommend

This saw is great for home owner use, now i can cut my own steel when adding things to my utility trailer for mowing. I no longer have to drive to the next town to get my steel cut and pay for each cut. best $199.00 i ever spent. Dont forget to buy you some safety goggles and safety glasses , ear muffs. Might want to pick up an 2 adjustable roller stand to hold the steel up on each side of the saw. Dont force the saw, let the saw blade do the work. Dont use a Diamond Blade untill you read the ...

DeWalt 14" Chop Saw

Would Recommend

This chop saw is heavy duty enough for any homeowner or DIYer to get great results with. It will do the job you need and give you the final cuts on pipe, square tubing, round stock and perlin that you are looking for. So if you need a chop saw I am recommending this bad boy.
