Overall a good planer but...

Overall the planer seems solid and well built. adjusting the blade depth is easy and goes from very shallow to very deep. No crazy vibration and standard planer noise. The thing that I cannot understand is why the dust port is an odd shape? Right out of the box, there is no way to hook it up to my standaard shop dust collection system. Easy to use

As a DIYer I purchased this planner to use on smaller projects until such time I am able to purchase a table top full planer. That purchase will also be Dewalt! For several years I worked for a construction supply company and there is where I saw the durability of Dewalt tools Having never used a hand planer I found the directions and use to be very easy. Looking forward to using this planer on several current and future projects.

Handy machine.

It Works

Working on a tree stump to use as a deck table. Tried a belt sander to take the chain saw marks out. I would still be working on it in April. Bought this hand planer 1/6/2020 and one hour later I was done and cleaning up a big pile of wood shavings. Now my wife is looking at the wood pile. I think she's going to have more work for me. THANKS!

Easy to use.

I wasn't sure if this was something that I needed, but it has been pretty handy. I only regret not finding the tool with a case. I didnt have that option when I bought this hand planer.

Burned up withing 15 minutes.

This is the second Dewalt Planer I have purchased. The first one was the battery operated. The battery died within 15 minutes then took an hour and a half to recharge. This one burned up within 15 minutes of use at 1/32” cut depth. Apparently it has no heat protection built-in.

Great small project tool

It has been satisfying to see projects become cleaned up as we plane the wood. It was tricky to start off with and once we were able to become more comfortable with it, the end product was great.

Handheld planer

This handheld planner worked great for my project. I used it to remove wood from the Purple Heart squares as well as a few other areas. I tried using a hand planer but I didn’t have the patience for that and my arms were getting tired. This Dewalt planer really sped up the process.

Works great!

I love Dewalt brand tools. This thing just breezes through wood. I used it to level out some floor joists for a kitchen remodel and it shaves away layers so smoothly. While planning and moving along the joist, my boot actually slipped on the joists. This will be getting plenty of hours in various wood working projects in the future.

Great tool, great value

I used this hand planer to level out a very uneven rough cut 5 inch oak bar top. It performed flawlessly. I wished I had bought one of these years ago!

Sweet planer

I bought this to work on my large slabs to get them planed down to a workable level. So far, this planer has been awesome. I used to hand plane this type of step with a Stanley 7. On projects where I'm rushed for time or just not feeling up for hand planing, this comes in handy (ha) and cuts my project time by about a third. Its appropriately easy to take apart to clean and sharpen. No issues, love this planer

Good hand planner

Easy to use, does a great job on door's. The only thing I didn't care for is the discharge unit that is not included in the box. For the price of the unit I don't understand why DeWalt does not include it. When I called they wanted $30 dollars for a piece of plastic. I was going to return it but I have so many DeWalt tools that have served me well through my 35 year's as a finish carpenter I kept it. But come on guys $30 dollars for a piece of plastic really? Works like it should. The guide on the side is great.

New Planner

I have only used this tool about 15 times so far. The planer works very well. Light weight easy to handle. Easy to adjust cutting depth. The down side are it did not come with a dust port connection, which I ordered. The shipping cost was almost as much as the port. When I used the planner with the dust port, it was hard to find a suitable connection hose to either of my wet/dry vacs. I ended up duct taping the hose to it. The port and hose was some what in the way, therefore it hampered the ope...

Cheap Blades

I bought the Dewalt Hand Planer to plane the frames of two (2) doors. After planning part of the frame on one door, I had to replace the blades. If the new blades don't perform better, I will replace the hand planer with a better one.
