I actually use this tool to debark pine logs where I used a draw knife prior, and this tool makes it by far much faster, cleaner, and I can actually shape the log much easier! I do go through the cutter blades though, but well worth it!

one Huge problem
the dial is not accurate, other than that, it will rip some material. the Biggest issue is that lowes does not carry the blades for replacement. have to order online, which is a huge disappointment.
Nice tool, BUT
No dust collection! How on Earth Dewalt omitted this crucial component is beyond me. Buy something else.

Works but makes a lot of chips
It works. Make a ton of chips, side outlet clogs regularly. Due to its shape, hard to attach a vacuum hose. On the “zero” position, it’s still cutting .010” or so, be aware of that. Did save me a lot of sanding time, but you still have to sand. Occasional chip out also. Practicing on a scrap of wood highly recommended.
