Would RecommendThis is a great planer. I originally planned to buy the Bosch planer due to its form and feel but fortunately turned it over. The Bosch has a single tiny blade that can’t be resharpened. The Dewalt has two blades that are much better suited for long life. I needed the planer to clean up rough cut 8x8 beams that were too large for my 15” planer. I planed nearly 1000’ of beam face before the blades needed sharpening. Buy the Makita
Would Not RecommendI purchased this planer to replace my Makita. Generally, I am pretty satisfied with Dewalt tools; however, this planner left a lot to be desired. The blades that came with the unit lasted for about 15 minutes, and you cannot buy them at Lowe's (I had to order them online). The depth adjustment is less than precise and it seemed to lack power. Sorry, but the agravation outstrips the low price. To top it off, I had to leave my email address to submit this review.

Tool needs a Dust Collector
Would RecommendThe tool itself is great. It should have had a dust collector in the box or the shape should have been a standard shape (round). I took two stars because wood dust is a fire and physical hazard. The hand planer should include said attachment.

Perfect for the job
Would RecommendBought this to trim a bit off of a new shed door that was just a little too tight. Easy adjustment for depth of cut and makes smooth, clean cuts effortlessly. Not very heavy and easy to hold and control. Lots of sawdust created like any planer would make, but as I was outside I really didn't mind. Goes well with my other Dewalt tools.
