What Customers Are Saying
The planer is generally effective at quickly planing down wood, with many users finding it powerful and reliable. However, some experienced issues with the blades dulling quickly, especially when working with harder woods. The dust collection system was also reported as ineffective by some customers. Despite these drawbacks, most users seem satisfied with the planer's overall performance and would recommend it.

No dust collection or shop vacuum adapter.
Would Not RecommendIt doesn't come with any dust collection system. You have to buy an adapter for your shop vac separately. It should have been provided with the planer. They could easily have made the dust port round for an easy vacuum attachment. But no, you have to buy the adapter. Just another way to get a few more bucks.
could be better
Would Not RecommendI'm replacing my trusty corded planer. My complaint is the sole has a milled surface adds lots of texture to the surface that should glide on the wood. I see no reason for this and the curved striations both increase friction and also deflect the planer as they go at an angle to the direction of travel. The only tools in my shop that have like this are surfaces that are designed to create friction. The sole should be smooth. I've become a "Team Yellow" with a shop full of dewalt tools. This b...

Gave as gift
Would RecommendI gave this as a gift to my son-in-law. He is ALWAYS excited to open a gift in the yellow box (by DeWalt, so I am assuming this is a five star product. He is very particular about his tools. He used it right away and was pleased with the results.

Great Hand Planer
Would RecommendWas ordering for curbside but decided to browse in store. Glad I did. The other planers in stock had one blade feature and didn’t appear beefy. We are working on epoxy river tables with live edge mesquite planks and needed quality for hardwood planks. The dual blades are beefy and sharpen polish well. Done four 10x60” planks and still sharp. Great power for what we need. Making short work of what could take a ton of sanding out saw cuts.

Needs front handle
Would RecommendThe planer is awesome however it needs a front handle. As a result I sliced my finger today on the rotating blade real bad while I was trying to hold the unit when planing some wood. Not happy about missing the tip of my finger and fingernail!!

Accessories
there are no accessories, ie chip collector or diverter. If you have to use it horizontally you better have a face shield.

Does the job I bought it for
Would RecommendI bought the planer to smooth down 6x6 post that are rough sawed. Large area of planing but it does get the job done. Only have used for a short while so the review is limited in time usage. At this point the review would have gotten a 5 STAR, but I don't understand why DeWALT leaves out the dust collector attachment. Inside/Outside, it needs the dust collection. I don't see where most of my jobs are going to be minimal dust producing, So, DeWALT gets a 1 STAR shame on you deduction. Come on ...
