Ratings & Reviews for CRAFTSMAN V20 20-volt max 13.0-in Straight Shaft Battery String Trimmer 4 Ah (Battery Included) (Charger Included)
Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
Customers praise the trimmer for its powerful brushless motor, lightweight design, and quiet operation, with most noting it outperforms older gas models and handles typical yard tasks with ease. The switch from gas eliminates fuel mixing and reduces physical strain. However, battery life varies significantly—some complete full yards on one charge while others report 15-20 minute runtimes. Several users experience durability issues with plastic components cracking and bump-feed mechanisms failing. Despite these concerns, most customers find the convenience and ease of use worthwhile, though some recommend purchasing a second battery.

Would Not RecommendBattery life has been good and allows me to complete lawn and edging on a single charge. Struggles with thick grass and does not edge well even at full speed. However the most frustrating thing is the replacement of the string spool.... there ISN'T one! Have had many Craftsman products in the past, but have never been more disappointed than with this one!

Reluctant Recommendation
Would RecommendI have little problem with its performance, but it has a voracious appetite for string. The autofeed responds a bit too fast , especially when trimming at fence or slab
Battery life needs improvement
Would RecommendOverall operation and ease of use is great. However I need 2 batteries to finish my yard, really could use a 3rd if I wanted to edge sidewalk and driveway too.

Battery Doesn't Last Long
Would Not RecommendThis Model #CMCST920M1 has plenty of power on the 'high' setting (low setting isn't so hot) but the batteryn life just isn't as claimed. I've used and charged it 3x now and the most I can get is 35 minutes. We have an acre with lots of gardens which regularly need trimmed and this trimmer just isn't good enough.
No support
Would Not RecommendNo replacement strings so once the spool is empty, you scrap the machine because it's useless.

no battery life
Would Not RecommendBought this for my son to use. It is light weight, but the battery dont last. The first time he used it ran for 20 minutes. So I put the battery on charge and made sure it was fully charged and then I tried it out myself. I made sure to put it on low speed. It only ran for 25 minutes. The box said it will run up to 45 minutes. That is a lie and this product needs to be remarked and tell the truth. The truth is that it dont run for 45 minutes only 25 minutes. But it cuts good on grass.

impressive
Would Recommendextremely light, great long lasting power. everything about it 5 stars.
Light weight
Would RecommendMy husband just got this for our camp and I was surprised at how light it is and easy to use. The last weedwacker we had I could barely lift let alone use it. If your looking for a powerful weedwacker and are worried about the weight try this one out.

Very happy with this product!
Would RecommendI've had this Battery-powered cordless trimmer now for almost 2 full lawn care seasons and I have been EXTREMELY pleased with it. I don't often write reviews but I felt this product deserved it. I struggled for years with the gas weedeaters...trying to keep them started & running, messing with the string every month or so (sometimes during each use), it was very frustrating. I wanted to try out the battery-powered options and I would definitely recommend this weedeater. After about the 5th o...
Worth the extra cost
Would RecommendI was debating between this and Item: #1130004 Model: #CMCST910M1. (The brushed one.) I'm pretty sure paying a little more was worth it. I'm able to do my entire yard with the included battery but I also extra batteries from my other tools. The low power setting is more than strong enough and I rarely flip the switch to high. The bump feed works without the need for profanity. The less expensive model has a push button feed that some reviewers claimed broke. Edges well by simply turning tur...
Great trimmer for the price
Would RecommendI have a bunch of the 20v tools already, so this was a no brainer for me to at least try this out before buying something more expensive. The good: Lightweight, 2 power settings, long battery life (5000sqft yard, doesn't even eat up half of the 4.0 Ah battery), pressure sensitive trigger (many cordless trimmers don't have this btw), easy length adjustable shaft, and easy to move support handle up and down, easy to replace string, relatively quiet. The bad: Unbalanced. The head is heavier than th...
Does Awesome
Would RecommendImpressed with Craftsman on this one. Does a great job for an around the house battery operated weed trimmer. Far better than the one I got a few years back.
Powerful little thing!
Would RecommendI bought this today 5-15-20 and I was skeptical about buying a battery operated weed eater. But after using it in some tall grass I am very impressed with the power and the life of the battery.

Great Weed Wacker for home use
Would RecommendI bought one a few days ago and i was very hesitant in doing so. I was affraid it wouldnt have the power i liked but i was wrong. It has two power settings low and high and honestly i can do my entire yard in low. I kick it up to high for very thick stuff. I have about an acre of land and it gets all around my house, seperate garage, maibox, ditch and a few trees and still has over half the battery left. If you only cut your grass once a month and have a ton to weed eat you may want to go gas bu...
Worst purchase ever!
Would Not RecommendWorst trimmer purchase I've ever made. Bumb line feed is pathetic ,
Easy to use
Super easy too use and maintain. Battery life is pretty good and it’s a bonus that it’s the same battery as multiple tools I already have.

Powerful
Would RecommendI recently got the cordless trimmer and so far it has worked wonders on my hedges. I love that it is not heavy and it is so easy to use. I have a big backyard and I have hedges that sometimes get out of control and using this made it a breeze to get the job done within a few hours.

Cutting sensation
Would RecommendI bought this weed wacker at the end of the summer to cut those unwanted weeds before it got cold, and basically without any effort this weed wacker cuts weeds so close. The action of the blades are awesome . Charge it up afterwards and you're ready for the next amazing manicure of your yard. I love it!
