Would RecommendI lit this lantern following the instructions. Preheating with denatured alcohol in the spirit cup for about 2 min. Turned the valve on an it lit up right away. This is my first kerosene lantern and couldnt be more impressed with its performance. It is very bright. Consumption of kerosene is better than expected. Great lantern!

Minor damage.
Would RecommendThe lantern arrived with a dented collar, but otherwise it seems ok. The box wasn't damaged at all, so the dent was something that made it past quality control. As a collector of Coleman lanterns, the dent is a bit of a letdown from the quality that I've seen in the past.

Still great lanterns!
Would RecommendIn today's world I think Colman pressure lanterns (kerosene, dual fuel)are still at the top of the list for quality and functionality. Only reason they don't get 5 stars is because they aren't quite the quality they used to be, but very few things are in this time of shareholder profits and the environmental stranglehold on industry in our country.

Kersosene Lantern
Would RecommendThis is a great kerosene lantern that works really well. If you are a fan of the older and gas lanterns, this fits nicely into a collection.

Everyone should own a Coleman Lantern
Would RecommendWhat's not to like about a big single burner Coleman lantern. Love these old school lanterns. The 639C is a wonderful lantern. Burns bright, burns long, burns hot. Quality is very good on the one I received. If you have any problems with a Coleman product it has been my experience they will take care of it. Exceeded my expectations in the past dealing with them.
