Ratings & Reviews for Coleman Kerosene Lantern 700-Lumen Camping Lantern

Love using this to camp

Love this lantern for taking camping. It's very portable and easy to hold and move around. It's durable. The brightness level on it is great. I feel like it's an overall safe lantern when you read and follow the safety instructions.

The Goat

The only camping lantern. These are the best and the brightest. However changing the fabric inside is toxic and you need to do so carefully! They also can start fires if knocked over and land in grass so please be careful when setting these up as well as using!

No replacement mantles from Coleman

Only comes with 1 mantle and Coleman isn’t selling replacement #11 mantles at this time.

Gives off lots of carbon monoxide

Generates an astonishing amount of carbon monoxide. Even if used outdoors, anyone downwind is at risk from the CO being emitted. I used a digital CO monitor to take measurements. I’m planning to return it.

Solid Lantern!

I had been wanting to add a kero lantern to my collection and decided to purchase a current model. The lantern came well packaged with everything need to get going, minus the fuel. Just a few minutes to set up and it was up and running. The lantern provides a wonderful bright light with good adjustment and seems to be quite fuel efficient, I don't believe I've had to refill it yet over the last month, with I believe close to 8hrs run time. I'd happily purchase another of these 639C lanter...

Lamp

Great camping addition. The brightness is so good and very field efficient lasting the whole weekend. Has good safety features . Offers a lot of durability and portability to take on any camping trip

Easier to lite then you think

Great lantern, lot easier to get lite and pumped up then you think. Will have it in my hunting tent next year for elk camp.

Built to last

I grew up using these when I went camping with my family. They are not as bright as LeDs are now but they most certainly got the job done. They are built to last, as my dad still has his from over 40 years ago.

Spend the same on vintage for better lifespan

First off they sell the lanterns but don’t offer the size mantles these need so that’s neat. I collect antique and vintage Coleman lanterns of all kinds, I wanted a new model just to see how quality has changed over the years. These lanterns are still well built but expensive for what you get. I have a 1958 model 237 that is pretty much entirely constructed of nickel plated brass. It’s in fantastic shape and built like a tank. These new lanterns just don’t hold a candle to the old forged brass ...

Durable Lantern

This Coleman Lantern is so handy to have around and easy to use. We've used ours many times for camping and during power outages. Brightens up a large area. We love it.

Nostalgic lantern

Love the lantern. Pretty easy to light and burns a long time. Only thing I have an issue with is it doesn't look like colman makes a carrying case for it and don't sell the mantels on their website anymore.

Coleman 639

This lantern is easy to use and gives off plenty of light. I like being able to use kerosene as a fuel. I love using all of the Coleman liquid fueled lanterns.

Great For Fishing On The Beach Late At Night

Great product I use it every week for late night and early morning surf fishing on the beach. It provides a usable, no disruptive warm light with great ambiance that I believe everyone should get the chance to enjoy and experience I couldn't recommend this enough.
