first kerosene lantern

I have 12 Coleman lanterns. This was my first kerosene lantern. I took it camping in cold weather in the teens. After lighting the lantern I ran it on low for about an hour. I tried to turn up brightness and got flames and smoke. I could not get lantern to glow and eventually sooted it up so badly it was useless. Good Lantern Burns Bright Cheap to Run!

These Kero lanterns are great!! i have older white gas lanterns but decided to get a new Kero lantern(used coleman kero lanterns are on the rare side and usually pretty expensive) Started off with one of these lanterns 2 years ago and now i have 4! Make sure to follow startup instructions and try a peerless 111 mantle sometime they are very bright and durable.IF YOUR VAPORIZER IS CLOGGING OFTEN try opening the control knob from off to on then immediatly off very quickly after pumping up lanter...

Kerosene is best for grid down emergencies

For emergencies I use kerosene for heating, cooking and lighting. I liked my fist kerosene lantern so much I bought a second. They are USA made quality, simple to operate and light an entire room.

Arrived as described, easy to use, reliable & well made. Very bright. Used kerosene purchased from big retail store, readily available.

First new one in a long time

This is my first new purchase lantern in many years, I have about 70 lanterns in my collection. This will be my fourth kerosene burner. It is nice to see that the quality oof old continues.

Bright & Easy to use.

Even with the added step of filling the filling the pre-heater cup this lantern is incredibly easy to use. bright enough to illumate a campsite as good as a Coleman gas - duel fuel - or propane lantern. A well made lantern - recommended.

Not a good backup option

I have 3 Coleman Kerosene Lanterns; I have 2 model 201 and the newest is the 639. I buy my kerosene at a local gas station and use it in my kerosene heater as well as my kerosene lanterns. I have a 5 gal can that is about 2 years old. The heater and both 201's use it without any trouble. But when I put it in the 639 the mantle will turn black. With ...
