Had to make two trips to the store and both times hotwater tank was defective as in dented on the top rim. After the 2nd trip home I called customer service and was basically told return it or live with it. If it leaks bring it back. This was on a Sunday afternoon and we had to have hot water for the morning. Only two in stock or in the area was the ones I had. Had to buy a second AO Smith WH after 15 months

Had to buy a second AO Smith water heater after 15 months when I noticed water leaking from the element box on the bottom. I called our plumber who came out to look at it and said it wasnt leaking from the element and could figure out why all the insulation was wet from and tank filled with water from bottom panel down. Selling our house so had to get a quick replacement and went with AO Smith again from Lowes but would not recommend. Disappointed in quality of the Water heater.

Brand new, but didnt work

Brought the hotnwater heater home, and it did not work. Turned out to be a bad thermostat, right out of the box. Had to call the manufacturer and arrange for a new part .

Hope your is made better

Got it home and installed. A week later it streaming water across the garage. Leaking tank. Took it back and had to wait on hold on the phone for an hour to get a return OK. Finely exchanged it and reinstalled it. Working so far. A real pain to deal with, if I had paid for the installation instead of going it myself it would have been costly as well.

Disappointed when I bought a brand new water heater only to get it home and have one of the thermostats and heating elements to be faulty. It took days to remedy and inconvenienced with no hot water. I was able to work with the manufacturer to replace the faulty parts but it’s didn’t give me peace of mind knowing this shiney new machine is wounded from the start. The heater is now fixed and running hot. Happy to have hot water.

The water heater did not heat immediately after installation. Appears the thermostat is malfunctioning and causing it to discharge water out the pressure valve and shut off. Called customer service and was told they had only one authorized service provider and they were 36 miles away. If you hire your own plumber, they will only reimburse $100. Solid Product

I bought this to replace a 20+ year old Rheem that came with the house. Lowes delivered on-time and carefully brought it in. No dents or any signs of damage. Very easy installation. I used the SharkBite Max kit also from Lowes. It took about 2 hours with the time for the old to drain.
