Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
The water filter system provides great-tasting, clean water, but some customers have experienced issues with leaks and poor quality components. While the system is generally easy to install, there are reports of the faucet and other parts being prone to breaking or malfunctioning, leading to water damage. Customers who have had the system working properly are satisfied with the water quality, but the high rate of reliability and durability issues is a significant concern.

Would Not RecommendFor the 6 months I got to use it this filter worked fine. Then randomly one day I go into the kitchen and find the floor flooded. Traced it back to one of the filter cartridges leaking everywhere. Shut it off, depressurize it, removed the filter to find the main housing split on the threaded nipple the filter cartidge screws onto. Never used a Whirlpool filter before, never will again. I will not recommend this piece of junk to anyone. The cartridges are also obnoxiously expensive.
This product is garbage
I've had this for approximately 5 months. It has continually leaked water around the faucet since being installed. The water drips under the counter. I've disconnected and connected all the lines, ensured that drain line runs at 45 degree angle into sink drain. I've checked and cleaned sink drain pipe. Nothing works. Save your money and your sanity and buy a product that actually works. If you have one already, throw it in the trash the first chance you get.
Worked well until I bought replacement cartridges
Would Not RecommendWe had this system for a while with minor issues. The faucet base cracked within a month or two, and the battery indicator is useless. Recently we purchased replacement filters from Lowes.com and one of them leaked upon the initial installation. I checked and double checked orings and for proper fitment. I contacted Lowes about a replacement and was told that to much time had elapsed since I purchased it. If I recall, it was a 3-4 months. They suggested I contact Whirpool which I did, and they s...

Much better than having to change actual filters
Would RecommendI've owned two units. One are my home and the other at my condo. They both work great. Thank you.

Problem-I can't enjoy drinking any other water now
Would RecommendInstallation was pretty simple. The water is some of the tastiest I've ever drank. Second only to distilled(not store bought though, that stuff tastes like plastic). The replacement filters(a bit pricey) are super easy to install and last a long time. With heavy use and a family of 7, the filters still do the job well for their given life span. Carbon filters are replaced every 6 months, membrane (I think)every 3rd year. Faucet is kinda flimsy but works fine. Filtration is pretty quiet, but not ...
bought this last year, we use well water, no more bottled water, very happy with our filter system

Great improvement in water quality.
Would RecommendWe bought our filter system more than 2 years ago. Without filtration our water averages at 150 to 180 ppm. With the filter we're at 5 ppm. Water taste is vastly improved. Filters last much longer than expected. The initial installation takes some time, but since the system lasts for years, it's well worth it.

Water waster
Would Not RecommendThis system makes great water but the water drank compared to the water that goes down the drain seems excessive. In a state that has a water shortage this don't make since.

Thank you for your inquiry. While all reverse osmosis systems have a percentage of waste water compared to consumable water, we do offer systems that ...
Good quality unit (not great) for the money
Would RecommendI purchased this unit several years ago and wanted to summarize my experiences. First, we were remodeling our kitchen and had made the decision to put in the RO unit specifically for cooking and beverages (mainly coffee, but also teas). The unit was relatively easy to install (as if anything under the sink is easy). Original installation was basically stock (everything from the box). Water quality was very good and made a remarkable difference with cooking and, especially, coffee. After a couple...

So far it is great
Would RecommendJust install it myself with son help and water tastes great compare to regular facet water. But I only had it for 1 and half weeks so to soon to really review it. I had to more or less redo my plumbing to make this work but Lowes had all the fittings that I needed.

Leaks....and leaks, needed to use my own parts
Would Not RecommendInstalling this isn't too bad, but the plastic parts they use to connect the hoses, are garbage, they end up being stripped especially if you are working in a tight space. I ended up going to the hardware store and finding quality connectors that did the job, so this does work, but for the price I paid for this, I would expect better quality parts.
Replaced my old WHER-18 system
Would RecommendI loved my old WHER-18 RO system by Whirlpool. It lasted 11 years 7 months completely trouble-free until it developed a leak that I could not fix. I bought the WHER-25 since it was the easiest way for me to replace the head unit without having to run new/ different-sized tubing. I spent less than one hour total swapping the unit and all is fine three days later. I'd say I got my money out of the old system and hope to get equally long life out of this new one!

Love IT
Would RecommendHad the system installed when the house was built by the same plumber who installed my water softener. The water taste better than bottled water and I have no problem paying for the filters every 6 months which is way more convenient than dealing with those water tanks I used to buy. I am on 5 th year and I just replaced the membrane. The faucet is a little delicate but we are heavy users and hadn't had any problems yet.

Not happy
Would Not RecommendInstalled one of these under my kitchen sink. Have had issues with the tank not allowing complete refill (have had to bleed pressure out of the tank to allow water storage over 10 cups - wouldn't even fill a coffee pot). Also, after less than 3 years the top gasket on the manifold went out and it flooded my kitchen, ruining a cabinet. Unbelievable they would put a design flaw in like that that could cause this.
We are sorry to hear about the troubles you have experienced. If you would like troubleshooting help with your tank or to order replacement parts, pl...
Do not buy
Would Not RecommendThe filters are almost as much as the whole system to replace.
Love the system and were big water drinkers
Would RecommendBought this system 6 months ago, we're on Texas well water and while they say its safe, it doesn't taste like it is. I drink on average 2-3 gallons of water a day, yep that much. If people see me without water in my hand, they freak out, I think its because the military always taught us to drink water even when were not thirsty. Anyway, I installed all by myself only took an hour and I have ZERO plumbing experience. Read the directions and you will be fine, also did not have to wait 24 hours to ...

Good for the price
Would RecommendPurchased several years ago, I was concerned about contaminated water from drain entering system, but the air gap should prevent that. I had problems with overflow from the faucet air gap. I took the drain line off and the connection to the drain adapter, this was after several years of use. The drain line was plugged with slime, not something the manufacturer could be responsible for, it was shown in troubleshooting. I cleaned the drain and sanitized the drain line. I didn't want to take the fa...

A ticking time bomb
Would Not RecommendI bought this system because it was inexpensive and looked easy to install. I was wrong about the expense. I had neglected to find out the frequency and cost of the replacement cartridges. They turn out to be significantly more expensive than other systems. What's worse is that the system does a mediocre job in removing contaminants. Even with newly installed filters, the system removes only about 85%. Most other RO systems remove 90-95%. So this unit underperforms. But the real problem is that ...
