Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
The water filter system provides great-tasting, clean water, but some customers have experienced issues with leaks and poor quality components. While the system is generally easy to install, there are reports of the faucet and other parts being prone to breaking or malfunctioning, leading to water damage. Customers who have had the system working properly are satisfied with the water quality, but the high rate of reliability and durability issues is a significant concern.

Would Not RecommendExperienced the same cracking issue within a year of purchase. Head piece cracked where yellow tube attaches--resulted in a flooded kitchen-damage to cabinet and floors. Definitely DO NOT recommend this product.

When it works, it works great. But not the best!!!
Would Not RecommendBought about 2 years ago, plastic where yellow pipe goes cracked. Will try and contact Whirlpool to see if they will help. Im sure if the area where the yellow hose goes was bulkier, the design would be near perfect. I also bought a system for my mother and the filters only lasted about 6 months. The replacement filters only lasted 2 weeks. Not sure to stick with this system or go to another product.

Working great so far
Would RecommendI bought this unit in Jan.17. I found it easy to install and at the same time I was installing an ice maker in my fridge. I was buying RO water from a local store and toting 2 5 gallon bottles twice a week was my motivation. I think my water taste better than what I was buying and so does my wife. The ice is almost clear too. I hope it continues to perform as it is. I know filter changes are soon.

Great customer service
Would RecommendThis is the second unit I have owned and love the great tasting water they produce. The first one was in our last home and worked trouble free for at least 3 years before we sold that house. We left it for the new owners and had a new one installed in our new home and has worked perfect for 2 years. I was changing the filters yesterday when I noticed the main filter housing was leaking. The leak was in the main body of the unit where the line from storage tank connects. I called the customer ser...

There is a reason this unit has been discontinued.
Would Not RecommendI had the same leaking issue discussed in other threads in this list. The housing cracked where the yellow tube fitting attaches. We now get to replace the floor in the sink cabinet. Note the design changes in the replacement unit - the WHAROS5. Uses the same cartridges but the head unit is gone.

Highly Recommend
Would RecommendThis system is very easy to install and was priced 30% below competitive units. It includes all required plumbing tie-ins needed for connecting to your cold water supply and the drain. The water connect lines are extra long allowing you to install within your available space as required. Also the water line connections are all push - compression-fit based. You will have to buy a 1 1/4" drill bit to install the faucet into your counter. Overall - I highly recommend this system.
Great for four years, SLOOOOWWWW now
Would Not RecommendThis, our second, was installed October 2011 when we moved into this house. It worked great supplying the faucet and also the ice maker. In January 2016, it got noticeably slower. Now it takes 15 minutes to fill a two quart pitcher. There are no leaks (we've had one and had to replace a seal in fall 2015) or any signs of clogs but I can't handle this incredibly slow rate any more. There's nothing in the owner's manual or online that suggests a way to rectify it. Right now, at this flow rate, I c...

Great while it lasted
Would Not RecommendI noticed a few others having the same problem I had at nearly the same age (1.5 years) The main yellow feed hose started leaking causing water damage under the sink. It seems like the choice of seal and retaining clip for this hose in particular are inadequate.

Housing cracked within a year and leaked
Would Not RecommendFirst system lasted about 10 years. This one lasted less than one before it leaked. Source of the leak was a 0.5 cm vertical crack through the female housing for the yellow tube.

LOVE this Product
Would RecommendThis is my THIRD system, had to leave the other behind as the new homeowners made them a stipulation to buying the home! The current one is over 5 years old and working great! We do change the filters and membrane as recommended. You won't go wrong with this system. My only small "issue" is the tank size, wish they would increase the tank size. Also, make the new larger tanks to you can replace your older smaller tank please!

Highly reliable over many years, extremely pleased
Would RecommendWe have had this unit under our sink for seven years now. It gets regular changes to its filters and occasional new membranes. We keep it clean and treat it with respect. It has never failed us and has never had any issue requiring repair of any sort. Our community pumps its water from an aquifer that contains arsenic. While the tap water meets current standards, arsenic is a known carcinogen and the standards are regularly revised downwards. Not wanting to play numbers games with our health,...

Good filters but bad over sink Mount/attachment
Would Not RecommendFilter system works fine. The issue is the mechanism of mounting the spout to the sink. I am disappointed that GE can't come up with a better system. It's faucet system is flawed in many ways.
Pain in butt
Would Not Recommendhate. continuous and repetitive expensive upkeep. going back to carbon filter under sink.
JUNK
Would Not RecommendI bought two of this product.the same problem you won't get any water after a short period of useage.the filters are expensive is all heck.after that the membrane goes.thats where "the not getting any water" part comes in at.i had a Honeywell reverse osmosis it work great for 15 years.just like whirlpool appliances they put their name on inferior products.need I say more?
Cheap hardware
Would Not RecommendAll in all a good product. The mounting hardware is cheap. The one clip broke after a month and we now have you have to hold the base when you turn the faucet on. When I have time I will crawl under the sink again and try to fix.
Housing cracked and water leaked under the sink
Would Not RecommendI have had this for about 20 months. Installation wasn't bad; the faucet and hardware were in good quality. However, the filter elements got clogged after two, three months of use. The water was constantly running even though the tank was full. I had to install a separate shut-off valve to minimize the water and filter element waste, but I had to remember to shut off the water. During 20 months of use, I replaced the filter about 6 times for the outsides and 1 time for the center. It wasn't...
OK
It works ok but I would buy one that included water supply tees. I don't want to shut off water to the whole house. Customer support is mostly just for looks.
Terrible Product. Awful Engineering.
Would Not RecommendFirst off, the faucet has a "weep hole" that continually leaks water. The instructions say that you need to run the system to purge it for 24 hours after installation or changing the filter. I left the faucet on over night and when I woke up in the Morning, there was water all over the counter. I dont have a crazy sink or anything, but the water leaks out and the design of the weep hole is wishful thinking that gravity will make the water go in your sink drain. Not the case. The water got into t...
This is my third RO unit and the most convenient
Would RecommendMy wife loves the water from RO units for 20 years. Bought this for our new place and it is the easiest to install and maintain design so far. To avoid gurgles and leaks, it works best jump out the air gap. It is there by code for an extremely unlikely back flow out of your drain defeating all the built in check valves. Also, everything is plastic because the resulting filtered water will attract metal molecules (leech metals) so it should not have extended contact to metal tubing or parts j...
Works Well for Me, One person
Would RecommendI installed this system about 15 months ago and it has worked well for me, however, I'm the only person drawing water from this filter. I'm not sure it would be able to keep up with a family of four. I installed it in my basement and ran a food-grade tube, (bought online from a company in Texas,) up to my kitchen with an additional valve just downstream from the filter, (valve bought at Lowe's). This was done as a safety measure against possible leaks and to consolidate the filtration equipment ...
