Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
The water filter system provides great-tasting, clean water, but some customers have experienced issues with leaks and poor quality components. While the system is generally easy to install, there are reports of the faucet and other parts being prone to breaking or malfunctioning, leading to water damage. Customers who have had the system working properly are satisfied with the water quality, but the high rate of reliability and durability issues is a significant concern.

Would RecommendWe have had this system in our house for going on 8 years. He have had to change out the cartridges twice a year and had to unclog the air gap a few times over it's current lifespan. We did have to replace the diaphragm once...very easy and worth it. Still, very impressed with this system and still very happy. We are currently on our third faucet however, but this new one is not the shiny plastic one it originally came with. If you buy this system, just go ahead and replace the faucet with ...

Works for a while
Would Not RecommendI have had this system for 4 years & have had intermittent leaks for most of that time. The last time I changed the filters it leaked out of 3 different connections & would not stop. I had a different brand of system for over a decade before this one & never had a minutes problem. So I just bought a better rated brand & threw the whirlpool system in the trash.

Breaks/Leaks after warranty ends
Would Not RecommendI had three of these at different properties that all failed after the 1 year warranty ran out. Two of them developed cracks on the hose fittings (yellow and blue hoses). The other developed a crack inside the manifold and leaked as well. Have yet to see if the newer unit is a poorly designed.

Leaking at the yellow hose
Would Not RecommendLate last night I discovered a leak coming from our reverse osmosis unit and after a brief search discovered it is leaking at the yellow hose just like many others have reported. I have yet done a deep dive into what is causing the problem, but now I know what to look for. Luckily, the unit is in our basement so hopefully the damage it has caused will be minimal.

Cracked manifold at 3 years old
Would Not RecommendKind of sad. Overall the water quality from this is great. I found a leak in my basement where I have this set up out of the way so there is nothing to hit it. The same yellow line manifold is cracked like so many others. Not sure if I should get a replacement if it will do the same thing. This is poor quality of plastic molding from manufacturer. The plastic is a bit too thin. Since we have nothing around this filter unit, I was shocked that it would have cracked since the lines ar...

Manifold cracked just like others
Would RecommendWe've had this a little under two years and it started leaking. Upon investigation, my manifold (I think that's what it is.... the top part that the filters screw into) cracked where the yellow hose attaches, just as it did for others and some posted photos. I'd like to replace this part but I'm having trouble finding a replacement part. Can someone please help? The water quality of this filter is very good. I see they have changed the design somewhat. Hopefully that new design will last long...

time to find another manufacture!!!!
Would Not Recommendtwo year old system developed a crack at the yellow water fitting, a slow leak, but due to this filter system being out of sight, and therefore not noticed for several weeks, has caused a lot of water damage to the cabinets. time to find another manufacture that make a quality filter system. i will be removing the three wher255 water filter systems i have and replacing them with anyone else's.

Manifold will crack after about a year
Would RecommendI have had 2 of these units. The manifold is cheaply made and will crack causing a leak. It will crack around where the water lines enter the unit. The water quality is great and does its job, but the cracks/leaks will make you angry.

Not constructed very well
Would Not RecommendI recently found leaks at both units I owned, one at my house and one at my office. Both units were about 3 years old. Both units failed at the same place, the fitting for the yellow tubing on the housing of the unit. Both units cracked at this point and one unit cracked where the blue tubing connected as well

Air gap and drain line plugs constantly
Would Not RecommendWe bought at Lowe’s less than a yr ago for use at summer home. Every time we arrive, within 2 days we have a leak around the mount on the counter and into the cabinet. We unscrew the tube that drains under the sink and suck out with wetdry vac and it is fine for a couple of days. This seems to be a design flaw. Our other r/o system of another mfr does not have this problem. The customer assist young man was less helpful than I would have liked. He didn’t seem to care. His advice was use dran...

cracked head assembly attached to the yellow hose.
Would Not RecommendBought this unit a year and a half ago. i just replaced the filters yesterday and noticed that right there were water leaks under my sink. after investigating where the leaks are i noticed it was coming from the yellow tube. i was trying to look up replacement parts but looks like this is really the issue with this model. whirlpool should do something about this since after reading a all the negative reviews looks like this is really not a reliable system.

I see all the complaints, but we haven't had any..
Would RecommendWe've been in our house for nearly 8 years now, this system was installed by the previous owner. I've changed the filters on time, and I even partially removed the system to do some counter top/backsplash work and that was 3 years ago. I haven't had any leaks develop or seen any parts fail. My wife and I have been very pleased with this product and much prefer the taste of this water compared to the tap water (softened) or the fridge water (softened and filtered).

Have had one for 17 years, works well, but have replaced the faucet twice and the tank three times and need to replace tank again, Rubber bladder keeps getting holes in it. Have installed numerous ones for friends and family, tank has always been a problem.

Practical Use
Would Not RecommendI have had this unit in operation for just over a year, the water quality is excellent but the faucet unit is frustrating. For as good as the system is, the quality of the faucet is ridiculous, it is chrome plated plastic. My faucet is unusable after about 15 months, the threads are all broken and the spigot leaks where it attaches to the base. I cannot find any where to buy just the faucet portion.
