Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
The water filter system provides great-tasting, clean water, but some customers have experienced issues with leaks and poor quality components. While the system is generally easy to install, there are reports of the faucet and other parts being prone to breaking or malfunctioning, leading to water damage. Customers who have had the system working properly are satisfied with the water quality, but the high rate of reliability and durability issues is a significant concern.

Would Not RecommendSoon after it went in it started leaking. Had to remove a third apparently useless hose.. Leaking again. This time it is a cracked housing. the spigot isn't stable. It was installed by a master plummer.
Don't Bother
Would Not RecommendWe received this unit as a baby shower gift. At first, we were grateful to have the best filtered water available to our child. Professional plumbers installed the unit as we are not skilled plumbers. Fast forward a year and a half and two leaks later. First was a faulty faucet that was replaced under warrantee. Though Whirlpool said they were paying to ship back the broken part, no paperwork for shipping was provided. We paid to ship it back. Second leak was due to a CRACK in the manifold. It w...

Poor quality, prone to leak
Would Not RecommendIn the last five years, I've bought 4 Whirlpool reverse osmosis water filter systems, and every one of them has started leaking within a year or two. One leaked from a gasket/valve in the top of the filter housing, and my most recent unit has started leaking from a hairline crack in the manifold. If you buy this filter system, be sure to place a tub underneath it and maybe a shut off valve from your main water line because it's not a matter of if the system will leak, but when. As I wait for an...
This RO filtration system works great! I bought one in 2000 for a previous home we owned and I bought another one in 2007 for our current home. It is not a difficult installation if you have some plumbing skills. I saw reviews talking about water being wasted and carbon footprint. The water is not wasted. It is providing clean water to you and your family and the water that is expelled during the filtering process remains in the natural water cycle that has been around for many years before any ...

Faucet head needs re-engineering.
Would RecommendThe low grade is because it leaks water into the button battery compartment of the filter change light indicator very easily and thus ruins it with corrosion. Other than that the system is fairly good.

Honest Review
Would Not Recommend1) Installation: It took three plumbers a half day to install and make the system work. 2). It does NOT work for twentyfour after installation and filter change. 3). Filter change is wet and messy in a cramped location. 4). RO filtered water begins to taste "mediciney" after about 75 days. 5). To get the "RO" taste change the membrane every 90 days, not 6 months. 6). So, after 24 hrs, there is decent tasting water for not quite 3 months.

Great water taste
Would RecommendThis is a great system for all water problems. It's easy to install and operate. Change filter 2 times a year. This system gives you clean water for reasonable price.

A product with zero manufacturer support
Would Not RecommendWe purchased this system maybe 3 months ago if that. After two months of service from the R.O. system we noticed that water kept flowing through the system (not out the faucet but out the drain tube, yes this product wastes your water!!! especially if its not working right like ours..) At that point I was pretty confident that the manufacturers support would help us resolve the issue by sending replacement parts or something like that. SO my wife calls Whirlpool support and speaks to some rep. ...
Poor Investment
Would Not RecommendOver the last 4 years, I've installed 2 of this model (Whirlpool RO water filter). Both started leaking at different locations in the plastic manifold (connection hub) after 1 year. Fortunately, I have leak detection alarms in my sink and bathroom cabinets, so I caught the leaks before too much damage was done. This could have been a very costly mistake, so rather than waste my time repairing or installing another, I've changed to another manufacturer and design.
Don't let negative reviews scare you
Would RecommendGood coffee means no Keurig cups... Fresh ground beans, electric kettle, French press and GOOD WATER! Anyone who owns an electric kettle knows how much sediment and calcified garbage accumulates on the heating element after just one use... Not so when used with this lovely water treatment unit. I use my kettle daily, and after a full year, it looks like the day I bought it. Proof at its finest! Other users have complained about cheap fittings and leaks... However this product uses simple push-...

Great RO system
Would RecommendI've had two of these systems, one in my old house (2003-2005) and one in my current house (2008-now) and they have been the cheapest, simplest and all around best way to keep me from needing any other filtration. Of course, RO does "use extra water" like the other reviews state but the drinking water purity is unparalleled.

It failed after 2 years
Would Not RecommendThe filter has worked well for 2 years. Recently I noticed the waste water was running even though the filtered water tank was full. I called support, which took several minutes to get on the line, and was instructed to look at the diaphragm. I knew how to do this because I'd seen a youtube video on it. I opened the diaphragm and discovered a little plastic disc was broken. This is not a moving part so it must have been broken since installation but just now failed. I looked for a replacement at...
Great Product and Easy to Install
Would RecommendI purchased this a little over a month ago after getting tired of paying and storing all the 5 gallon water jugs. I Purchased this unit after doing some research i was not sure about the whole installation process a couple of days later I went back to lowes after doing some more research and purchased the system. I brought it home, I don't know a lot about plumbing but after following the directions it was a quick easy process that took about 60 - 90 minutes I love this system and its worth the ...
Used 10 years in NY and still working
Would RecommendI used this for well water in NY. It worked seamlessly. My biggest worry was to change the filters in a timely way. FYI. I left NY, moved to NC. I bought a Kenmore Elite Premiere RO system that cost twice as much (as part of a discount package. The unit last about 14 months and its dead. I am going back to Whirlpool. Hopefully they still make the same quality.
Basic not a quality product
Would Not RecommendWill not work with a refridgerator, customer service is not very helpful. Unit is compact and easy to assemble if looking for a basic sink unit only.

Cheaply made product private labeled for Whirlpool
Would Not RecommendI have had the model WHER25 for 3 years now. I recently noticed the zinc plating on the inside end of the spicket was flaking off and depositing into the drinking water after each use. I called customer service who told me my system was past the 1 year limited warranty and that the system or the spicket needs to be replaced. Hopefully the heavy metals that were depositing into my drinking water have not caused any major health illnesses. I have several Whirlpool appliances in my home and after t...
Leaked after a year
Would Not RecommendThe unit itself was alright until it started leaking into the sink cabinet and flooding the kitchen floor. The leak was from the side of the drinking faucet and a bad seal between the base and the faucet allowed it to leak into the cabinet and ruin the plywood floor. It then proceeded to overflow into the kitchen floor and also leak into the basement. The trouble shooting guide in the instructions claimed this is caused by a plugged drain tube, but both the drain tube and the kitchen drain were ...
Just what I needed
Would RecommendHad a WHER 12 that developed a leak in the top housing. Couldn't figure out how to repair this unit so I bought the WHER 25. Works fine, doesn't leak, and is quieter than the old unit when it is making water.
