It works!

Don’t listen to other reviews! Used it on a solid stain and it removed the stain. Dwell time is important; leave wet for 30 minutes and remove with a power washer.

Worthless

I followed the instructions to the letter, used an entire gallon and kept wet for 45 minutes. As a control I left two boards untreated. Result? The pressure washer did all the work and this product 0. Lowes shouldn't even carry this. Maybe this works in some situations but this only increased the amount of work I did, and did not increase it and now I am also out $35.

Does not work well on latex even though it claims too. The time I wasted going to get this and applying/power washing I could have sanded more than it cleared

I bought this product to remove our old stain on our deck. I used as directed but it only small portion of old stain is removed. I rinsed it off with my pressure washer but couldn't remove the old deck stain. Very discouraging so I would have to rate it as poor. It wasted my evening and I have to pay for additional cost for tool rentals which I bought

The good reviews must be lies

I read a mix of good and bad reviews. But, I’m a professional and figured that the bad reviews were from people who didn’t use it right. I wasted so much time and money from that decision. This stuff simply DOES NOT WORK. The good reviews (note that they were all collected from a special promotion) are inaccurate. It doesn’t even work on the Valspar product I put on this customer’s deck just last year (which came off in in the traffic areas after 14 months). I’m currently on my 3rd coat, using ...

I bought this product to remove our old valspar stain on our deck. The deck was last stained about 4 years ago. I used as directed but it only partially removed the old stain. I rinsed it off with my pressure washer but couldn't remove all the old valspar deck stain. Very discouraging so I would have to rate it as poor.

Worked perfectly

I was not confident that this would work after reading the reviews and with the condition of my deck. I applied this as directed and washed it with a pressure washer disc. Then added the deck conditioner and pressure washed it one more time. My deck looks better than it did when it was built. It’s 3 years old and had a lot of oil based stain that was applied wrong and needed to get it all off. I highly recommend this product followed by the wood prep by Valspar. I bought this product and it worked very well although it did require a second application in some areas. My problem is that it dried in a couple hard to reach spots and now I don’t know how to remove it. I tried the clean up and even sanding. It still looks wet

I followed the instructions and even applied a second coat, and it didn’t make any difference at all to the paint on our wood deck. I even used a power washer. Don’t waste your time, this product doesn’t work.

Actually Works!

The Valspar wood stripper worked surprisingly well in stripping a very dark, multi-layered stain from my cedar A-frame bench swings. After brushing on the product and waiting 15 minutes, I used the strongest water hose nozzle setting to remove the old stain. I accelerated the removal process by using a brush, along with additional water, to remove any residue. I recommend this product.
