What Customers Are Saying

The Utilitech LED motion-activated security light provides bright illumination and good energy efficiency, but some users have experienced reliability issues over time. The light offers straightforward installation, but the motion sensor and adjustability have been reported as problematic by a number of customers. While the light performs well initially, the long-term durability appears to be a significant concern based on the reviews.

Bought 5 and one is defective

Same trouble as another reviewer: light is strobing and drove my neighbors crazy. Too expensive for poor performance.

Excellent lighting while it worked

Would Not Recommend

Bought two of these lights a few years ago and one of them stopped working correctly just after the warranty expired. Now when the light is triggered on it never shuts off until I switch it off manually. I have tried adjusting the timer to no avail. The other light acts a bit wonky too but if I switch it off and wait 45 secs it goes back to operating normaly but I don't know how much longer it will last.

Not eave mountable

Would Not Recommend

Based on other review said the same item number but two models. The 1048 is not a true eave mount light unless you want to just light a very small area close to the light; as mentioned in earlier review. Lowe's site said they had 1036, which has more adjustment available, and 1048. Only 1048 on the shelf. First light didn't work will have to take it back. Second one worked but did light up much area when mounted under eave. Check out the pictures for 1036 and 1048 before buying.

Bronze?

Would Not Recommend

This item is not bronze; I ordered bronze, the box says bronze, but alas it is black. I will be returning it.

Not mountable on eave

Bought 2 units for mounting under eaves, the adjustment does not allow it to be mounted in this manner. The display unit at the store does not match the unit in the box.

Absolutely terrible

The sensor is advertised as detecting motion in a 180 degree radium within a distance of 60'. The detection area is 60 degrees at best within a distance of 10'. This piece of junk will be going back it does not even deserve 1 star.

Redesigned for the worse.

I bought two of these lights one year ago and they've worked OK. I just bought two more and discovered the light arms have no adjustment so when I mount them horizontally under the overhang the lights will only point down. Also , the sensor arm will adjust up and down but there is no way to stop it from turning so the wind will move it.Just cheap junk but now they cost more. I will return them.

HOLY ILLUMINATION BATMAN !!

Would Recommend

Replaced my old security light that never worked ... took maybe a half hour to install. Instructions were clear and simple. This light is 15 ft above ground level and at night it lights up 125 ft out and 160 ft across. I was very impressed. Be aware that the instructions indicate the sensor is tuned to a "side-to-side" motion as opposed to an "in-and-out" motion, so be careful where you place the light. The adjustments (one for time on, the other for activation distance from the light) may take ...

Just What we Needed!

Would Recommend

This outdoor motion detecting LED is the perfect Solution to our very dark back yard. It has perfect sensitivity and lights up quite well. I mounted one on each side of our deck and between them both lights our lower patio and 90% of our entire backyard! I have already recommended this to a couple of friends.

Better Yet

Would Recommend

Replaced an old motion-detecting security light, retrofitted with LED lamps with this purpose-built LED security lamp. The design is much more effective with a broader and deeper reach than the aftermarket bulbs in the old fixture. Adjusting the "electronic eye" for sensitivity and duration is a trial and error process, just as described in the instructions. I really like the performance and the appearance of this light.

180 Degree 2 Head LED Light

Would Recommend

Don't think a poor review is necessary, but I wasn't able to use it for my application. I need something ceiling mount. This product isn't good for that. The pivoting heads and sensor aren't setup for a ceiling mount. Seems solid, well built, well packaged.

Not as advertised

Would Not Recommend

If you are planning to mount this under an eave as described on the outside of the box, forget it. The ball mounts for the lights limit the adjustment so that it only shines below the light. You cannot adjust it to illuminate out into the yard. I purchased two of these and took them both back for a refund.

White LED Motion-Activated Flood Model #: SE1048-W

Would Not Recommend

Bought this for an eave mount. There are two different models under item# 611550. This model (SE1048) is a terrible design for an eave mount. The 2 heads are not very adjustable in the eave mount configuration. They shine straight down or just barely in front of the wall. The design does not let the heads rotate very far from straight down when in the eave mount. Try finding the SE1036 model if you plan to use the eave mount option.
