I have a Troy Bilt lawn mower that I think is great. So I purchased this weed eater to go along with it. The weed eater starts great. Was easy to assemble. But the cheap head made me take it back. I had to stop and re-string the head about 5 or 6 (sometimes more)in mowing a small yard. They THINK they have an easy-load head; but the string invariably breaks inside the head, requiring yet another round of dismantling the head to get the string unstuck and going again. I tried using their hi...
Troy-Bilt that is not worth buying!!!
Would Not RecommendNot even one season and it won't stay running, used the premix gasoline sold at Lowes. Ethanol free, after 6 uses it will no long stay running. Throttle level on the grip kills it, choke will keep it running only long enough to raise it up to hip level and dies. Wasted $169.00 plus tax on this worthless machine. Recommend never to buy this....ever!!!
Just a bit hot
Would RecommendThis trimmer is excellent in every way but 1, when holding the trigger with my right hand , my arm rests in such a fashion that my arm gets burned.

Don't waste your money!
Would Not RecommendThe pull string mechanism is complete junk on this model, does not engage half the time then broke on two trimmers we had purchased. Cost half the purchase price to get fixed then they broke again.
Worked great for one year
Would Not RecommendPurchased for a small yard and never had any issues. Then one day it started and would not accelerate. Replaced spark plug, gas, air filter, and cleaned carb, still would crank but not accelerate. I took it to a small engine repair place at ace hardware and the man told me I was better off throwing it away. Will not buy another Troy bilt anything.
Troy Bilt trimmer
Would Not RecommendI purchased this trimmer from Lowes based on reviews online. I used it one time and a piece that connected the drive shaft to the trimmer broke. Researching local service locations led me about 50 miles away at the closest. Troy Bilt lists numerous service locations, but nearly all listed will not do the work. Some replied that they stopped supporting Troy Bilt because they never got paid for their work. I did get this repaired after three weeks during the middle if summer, when I needed the...
Good Trimmer for the Price
Would Recommendit seems like every other year I am buying a trimmer. And after investigating trimmers for quality and usability, this was my choice and I found it on end of summer clearance. I opened the box, followed the instructions and it started the first time. It feels like a trimmer that would cost 2-3 times as much and cuts very well. It comes with two different heads and will also take several attachments. I am eyeing the tiller attachment.

Would Not Recommendyou would think paying more for the xp would get you a better product NOT !!!!!! THIS THING IS A PIECE OF JUNK ABOUT 18 MONTHS OLD THIS THING HAS OIL LEAKING EVERY WHERES AND THE ROPE NOW WON'T RECOIL JUST PLAIN JUNK I SHOULD HAVE STAYED WITH WEEDEATER BRAND CHEAP AND LAST A LOT LONGER AND YOU DON'T FEEL BAD WHEN THEY DO BREAK CUS YOU DIDN'T SPEND 4X'S THE PRICE I WOULDN'T WISH THIS TRIMMER ON NOBODY THE ONLY REASON IT GETS 1 STAR IS BECAUSE THAT THE LOWEST I CAN RATE IT !!!!!!!!!...
Plenty Of Power
Would RecommendI've only had it a few weeks, so no real idea of durability. It seems well made. It starts easy. Respooling line isn't as easy as it sounds but not that hard, either. Better than removing the spool & doing it. It has plenty of power. I have to be careful around old bricks & old concrete, as it will chip it. The only real criticism I have is the throttle trigger. It has a rather long reach, I think people with smaller hands might not like that aspect.

Great Timmer BUT....
Would RecommendI was going to write a very favorable review until on thing happened to my trimmer. The string is easy to install on the string spindle. I only re-installed the string once in the year plus that I have owned. Using the trimmer last week changed my mind. The string broke even with the head on both sides and I could not remove the string that was still on the spindle. Luckily, I still had the old Ryobi that this trimmer replaced, and I used the shaft and string spindle from it. So much for th...
Leaks Oil
Would Not RecommendPurchased this in the summer of 2015. I've only used it a handful of times and the last few times it would overheat and shutoff. Found out it was leaking oil. I have to refill with oil every time I weed-eat and it's out of oil by the time I'm done....It's been doing this since I bought it, just didn't realize what the problem was until recently. Contacted Lowes & Troy-Bilt and neither will do anything about it
Great product
Would RecommendGreat value, I previously had this unit and I guess the casting for the choke lever was bad, because it broke off. They warranted it by replacing it. And I liked it so much I bought a spare. The bump and feed is the only weak area. It is very difficult to open and refill. I've since bought a universal head.

Troy-Bilt XP 27-cc 2-Cycle XP 18-in Straight Shaft
Would Not RecommendI bought this trimmer in May because my old trusty Homlite finally gave up the ghost after many years of good service and little problems. At first I thought this one was ok, but after only three months it had trouble staying started and the air filter cover nob came off the first month. Called customer service at Troy Built and they sent me a new carburetor. I got the parts they sent me Thursday and put them on Friday. After playing with the new carburetor a few minutes I managed to get some tr...
2 cyl Gas String Trimmer TB2044XP
Would RecommendSince the mid 80's all of my yard/garden power equipment have been Troy-Bilt. The first piece I bought was a Rototiller. I was so impressed with the workmanship and quality built into the machine. But what impressed me the most was the fact that it did exactly what all of the Troy-Bilt literature said it would do. I have found that in today's world so many things do not live up to what is advertised.

Great customer service really helps!
Would RecommendIn my first post on this item, I noted a problem with fitting an older curved trimmer head and a new Trimmer Plus edger attachment. Customer Service contacted me, and shipped me a replacement coupler. Actually shipped me two, to ensure fixing the problem. One was a red steel coupler that was very similar to ones found on older versions of the trimmer. The other was a black one that seemed identical to the one that I got with the trimmer. Until I looked closer. Both replacement couplers wor...
No Buyers Remorse
Would RecommendThis weed eater has not only met, but exceeded my expectations. The 27cc engine is more than capable of cutting through the oak sprouts, Virginia creeper, and invasive China berry sprouts in my yard with no problem. With the edging attachment, there was no power drain when accidentally hitting the concrete. It's "aeroflex" attachment is a far improvement over winding spool and bumping the ground (idk why it's taken me 20 years to get to this point). I paid more money for this mode than the next ...

Poor choice
Another Lowes product failure. First couple of times using it were OK. Now, after about 6 months, it takes 10 or 15 pulls to get this darned thing started. I have changed the spark plug, emptied the full tank and used fresh gas/oil. Still the same. My Troybilt backpack leaf blower never has this problem. I would think for the price I paid for this thing that it would start on the 1st or 2nd pull. I am toooooo old for this.

Great Deal
I chose the TB2044xp for the price, ease of use and quality. It allows for different attachments as well as the jump start. Perfect if you are disabled
Only worked for 1 year of light duty!!!
Would Not RecommendPurchased the trimmer in May of 2015. Used through the summer, drained gas and put away. This summer added fresh gas and tried to use. Has not started back up since for more than a couple seconds. Lowes.com chat person told me to return it to the store, I assume they misunderstood the date because the store would not take it back. Contacted Troybilt support who told me there was nothing they could do, I needed to contact a local service center. Local service center can't even look at it for 8 we...
