It definitely has an incredible power. A really great feature is the Horizontal/Vertical operating position. Sometimes you come across to big of a log to lift... or if you are tired of lifting the logs. you can roll them into place and set up for a vertical split. This is a heavy machine too. there is a heavy tongue weight for the hitch... not enough to prevent rolling and hooking up. but it is definitely heavy. The front flip out leg could be better, but it is sufficient to operate the splitte...

Great work saver

Overall this wood splitter is very good. Having said this, I returned the first one I purchased due to a leaking hydraulic hose. Every time the ram went back to the top, about a tablespoon of fluid squirted out of one of the fittings. I attempted to tighten the fitting to stop the leak, but this did not solve the problem. As a result, I returned the original and got a replacement. The replacement worked great as I was splitting white oak that was up to 22" in diameter without any issue. One of t...

I couldn't believe how fast and strong it was. I ran it through the paces trying to get it to fail, but it just wouldn't quit. I was splitting oak all day. Knots and joints didn't stand a chance. I great on gas too. ran it for 5 hours straight. Had to fill once. It saved me hours, if not days

It'll get the job done!

I'm finally putting a wood burning stove in the house, oil bills are killing me! Knowing that I would be using a lot of wood, I made the investment in the 27 ton splitter. Very happy I did. Get's the job done!

This splitter has all the power you need to get through just about any splitting job. I put a 2 " ball on the back of my Troy Bilt lawn tractor and can easily haul this to any part of my property. Cuts through all logs like butter.

After much searching I found this to be the exact same spliter as the one I purchased from a friend. He had bought it 2 years ago and only used a few times. There are a few differances between the one I now own and the one pictured here. this is a 27T splitter, mine is 25, mine has fenders on the tires this one does not. good inexpensive splitter

I've had the splitter about a month and it's been great. I purchased because my brother has a simular one and his has split about 50 cord over the years with no problems. I find no difference between this Honda motor and the Briggs on my brothers which is the only disapointment, They both start hard when the temp is below 20 degrees.

Great splitter

I bought the 27t splitter after looking at a lot of bigger splitters and I found this to be plenty of splitter for my needs. The ram speed is a little slow and the hydraulic fluid gets very hot after a hour of running but other than that it is very satisfactory. I split about 2 truck loads of oak the first afternoon and it cut through the knots easily. The fuel tank is small but the splitter ran for over a hour on one tank full so that gave me a brake to get up and refuel.

New favorite toy

This machine is easy to use. Makes very short work of a big stack of wood. Honda engine is smooth, easy to star, and fuel effecient. The hydraulics are also very smooth and powerful. Have used it for the past 2 weekends only so cannot speak to durability yet, but off to a very encouraging start.

Poor Selection of Hydraulic Fluid

A fine machine for the cost. Works as advertised and is STRONG. However, and this is a big one: The Shell Tellus 32 Fluid used by Troybilt for their splitters is not locally available at any Troybilt dealer, NAPA, Farm Supply stor in Marion County Florida. The only dealer is an oil distributor who will special order a minimum of 5 gallons and shipping costs, approx $100.00. We bought the Troy-Bilt 27ton log splitter yesterday and picked it up today.My husband finally listened to me and is so happy he did! He has been outside "playing" with his new toy for about 45mins and already has more wood split than he would have in 3 hours! The unit came assembled from Lowe's, so I didn't have to go through the set-up process. Made life a lot easier. The unit runs and operates exactly as described. It is so easy and convenient to use, that I split a whole cord by myself. Very easy one-man operational tool. Made purchase on line with ease. I picked up splitter a few days later and got it home and could not wait to try it out. Very easy starting. I was able to purchase one that was already assembled so I can't speak to that part of the purchase. I did check hydraulic and engin fluids before starting and they were all fine. I have run just one tank of gas through the machine and it has preformed wonderfully. The honda engine started on the third or fourth pull and ran fine. I bought this 27T model about 10 wks ago. I was vacillating between some 34T units, and things with faster cycle times. Well, after retiring & moving cross country to rural Tn., I got this 10% cert from Lowes. And Lowes is the only game in town. HD 100 mi away.
