What Customers Are Saying
The log splitter is praised for its powerful performance, able to effortlessly split large, tough logs up to 30 inches in diameter. The vertical splitting feature is appreciated as a back-saver. Reviewers report the splitter is efficient, able to quickly process several cords of wood, including hard woods like oak and cottonwood. The hydraulics are described as smooth and powerful. While a few minor issues were noted, the overall sentiment is that the log splitter is an excellent, highly capable machine that makes wood splitting easy, especially for those with physical limitations or large wood-burning needs.

Would RecommendPurchased the 27 ton rated Troy-Built splitter last month. Everything worked just fine in the beginning . The Honda engine worked just fine. No problem with engine. Once the hydraulic oil heated up, after about 1 hour in 50 degree outside temp. the hydraulic control lever started to stick in the up position and would not return to the neutral position unless you moved it manually. If I was not able to do this manually the hydraulic hose started to shake from being over pressured. Luckily the bac...

Nice compact unit
Would RecommendPowefull unit, nice hydralic system set up, with filter, hoses etc. So compact had to lower my truck's tailgate to see were it was when backing up. Log catchers on either side of spliter come standard, again, nice feature as these are usually an added cost with some other units.

Very durable machine.
Would RecommendHonda engine is a good match for the log splitter. 27 ton is more than enough to split even the largest trunks of trees. Only downfall I could find it is difficult to back up. Suggest using a trailer or pickup to haul it to other locations. Once again - Troy-Bilt has come thru..
Great log splitter
Would RecommendI purchased this log splitter after using a friends home made one. This machine works great and was very easy to use. You can use it both in the horizontal and vertical position. I split the wood twice as fast with this splitter compared to the home made one. The Honda engine is an added bonus.
Very surprised
Would RecommendI was going to rent a splitter to do a job. Then I saw this one at Lowe's for $1299.00. I read the reviews and purchased one for myself. I was in welding and fabrication for years. I have built log splitters for customers. I don't believe I could have built one for myself for what I paid. It works and runs great. It was ready to use from the store just add gas. I was happy to see it split 30" and larger chunks of wood. I won't be using it every day so it should last awhile. The only downside is ...
27 Ton Troy Bilt Log Splitter Is Worth It...
Would RecommendI bought the 27 ton Troy Bilt Log Splitter and I was very happy with it. The Honda engine worked like charm and was easy to start. I heat my whole house with wood only so I go through a lot of wood every winter. I needed something that can handle big stumps. I was not disappointed. I brought it home last night and used all day today. I must have split close to 5 cords of wood and this thing powered through all of it. Some stumps were close to 3 ft in diameter. Some were seasoned and some were gr...
One Great Machine
Would RecommendThis is coming from a guy who said he would never have one of these. I had tried a Friends home made splitter and spent more time knocking the logs off the splitter than splitting. Picked this one up today at my local at my lowes store after doing a lot of homework and talking with others who use wood in 5 minutes I am sold for the Dollars this is GOLD. Was already preped at the store just needed gas, put the gas in a few pulls and it even sounded cool. If you are looking for one this is it not ...
Log Splitting the Evolution
Would RecommendTOWED THIS BEAUTY HOME,CHECKED FLUIDS,AND BOLTS/NUTS. FILLED THE TANK WITH HI-TEST,ONE(1) PULL AND i'M IN BUSINESS. SPLITTING LOGS THE TROY BILT WAY IS ALMOST BETTER THE MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL.
Useful Purchase
Would RecommendWe purchased this for our new wooded property. It works great so far. The Honda motor they use is amazing. The only time it didn't start on one pull is when I forgot to turn on the gas. My wife can start it with one pull and she can't start our mower with a Briggs motor. It could use a larger gas tank. The only complaint I have is the when you are lowering it from the vertical position you have to be careful not to pinch the hydraulic hose. It could use a better routing or a guard to keep the ho...

Very good logsplitter!!
Would RecommendI bought this splitter last Oct. I've split over 10 cords so far and I it has preformed perfectly. I'm half the way through splitting 3 - 100 foot hickory trees which drove me to write this review. If anyone split hickory they know how stringy and nasty it is to split. some of the log are over 3 feet in diameter. The toughest thing for me is rolling them over to the splitter. The splitter is splitting it all with no problems. The Honda engine always starts with one pull and is quiet. I would rec...
very good machine!
Would Recommendi am an arborist and cut trees professionally.after years of splitting and selling firewood i then began to log and mill most all of our wood and used to dump the leftovers. last year i finally got another log splitter and have to say this log splitter started up on the first pull and hasn't slowed down since! very strong machine and has split everything i've tried to so far! highly recommend kevin virginia beach va
Nice splitter
Would RecommendI have used this splitter for 2 years plus my son-in-law has used it for his wood as well both years and it has worked very well. We have probably split about 16 cords total with it. It has plenty of power, splits everything we have asked of it and has had very few problems. I did have a hose get cut do to not being careful when putting the cyclinder back to horizontal for transport. I just had to cut a little off and reattach it. Like with any piece of equipment you have to show a little common...
No complaints
Would RecommendOnly had it a short time. Haven't split anything really large yet, but split everything I put on there with ease. Started on first pull.

27 - Ton Logsplitter
Would RecommendI am very happy with this log splitter. I spent a long time researching and watching youtube videos of all the different log splitters that are available. For the price it is perfect for splitting all types of hardwood. There is nothing this splitter can't handle. I bought it and split about 5 cords of wood right off the bat. Oak, Maple, Pine, Cherry etc. it split them all without issue. If you are undecided about if you should buy a 20 ton splitter for less money or the this 27 ton splitter for...

Works as expected
Would RecommendWas going to buy a logsplitter on-line, but with shipping this was a way better deal (and we have nearly 10% tax, and it was still better deal). Purchased it, towed it home, threw some gas in it, and started on the 2nd pull. Everything worked great and as expected. The tires are only good to 40 mph, so something to be aware of if you plan to take on freeway.

It'll Split a Rock
Would RecommendAfter reading reviews I was hesitant to purchase this splitter . Someone said the engine has a plastic camshaft . I was an automotive mechanic for 45 years so someday I'd like to tear the engine down just to see that ! Other's complained of hydralic leaks . I've used this splitter for two days straight . Not a sign of leaks after 3 chords of splitting . I would like to see if this would split an old chevy smallblock . I purchased a 4 year warranty because of other's critisism . I don't feel like...
Very Satisfactory Purchase
Would RecommendRecently purchased on-line a 27 ton Troy Logsplitter and had delivered to one of my local Lowes stores for pickup. The delivery went smooth, and the splitter was ready for pickup as scheduled. The splitter was well prepared and Lowes personnel assisted with attaching splitter to my truck hitch. Upon my first use of the splitter after fueling it started on the first pull, and ran well. The splitter will split just about anything and I started with some 24" hardwood rounds that were half seasoned....
waisted money
Would Not Recommendat the beginning of the second winter using it it`s totally brokedown, took it to the shop for not running right and no splitting power i come to find out this thing has a PLASTIC cam so it was wore out, then the hydraulic pump is out of it which sends shredded metal through the entire system and eats the seals out of the hydraulic cylinder so now i got a new cam, hydro pump, rebuilt cylinder, new hydro oil and a motor thats glued together on the inside with a plastic cam that will soon again need ...
problems with design
Would Not RecommendI was enjoying the use of our new log splitter. It had plenty of power from the honda engine. started and ran well. I was splitting all types of wood with plenty of splitting force. So I thought I would try the ultimate splitting challange a load of cotton wood. That is when I found a unhappy design flaw. If you ever split a wood like cotton wood it is hard to split and it has many strings of wood that hold it together (much like splitting plywood). As the wedge starts through no problem great p...
