Slow but steady !

Purchased the 27 ton rated Troy-Built splitter last month. Everything worked just fine in the beginning . The Honda engine worked just fine. No problem with engine. Once the hydraulic oil heated up, after about 1 hour in 50 degree outside temp. the hydraulic control lever started to stick in the up position and would not return to the neutral position unless you moved it manually. Very nice splitter. Has a slow return, but does its job.

Nice compact unit

Powefull unit, nice hydralic system set up, with filter, hoses etc. So compact had to lower my truck's tailgate to see were it was when backing up. Log catchers on either side of spliter come standard, again, nice feature as these are usually an added cost with some other units.

Very durable machine.

Honda engine is a good match for the log splitter. 27 ton is more than enough to split even the largest trunks of trees. Only downfall I could find it is difficult to back up. Suggest using a trailer or pickup to haul it to other locations. Once again - Troy-Bilt has come thru..

Great log splitter

I purchased this log splitter after using a friends home made one. This machine works great and was very easy to use. You can use it both in the horizontal and vertical position. I split the wood twice as fast with this splitter compared to the home made one. The Honda engine is an added bonus.

Very surprised

I was going to rent a splitter to do a job. Then I saw this one at Lowe's for $1299.00. I read the reviews and purchased one for myself. I was in welding and fabrication for years. Useful Purchase

We purchased this for our new wooded property. It works great so far. The Honda motor they use is amazing. The only time it didn't start on one pull is when I forgot to turn on the gas. My wife can start it with one pull and she can't start our mower with a Briggs motor. It could use a larger gas tank. I bought this splitter last Oct. I've split over 10 cords so far and I it has preformed perfectly. I'm half the way through splitting 3 - 100 foot hickory trees which drove me to write this review. I have used this splitter for 2 years plus my son-in-law has used it for his wood as well both years and it has worked very well. We have probably split about 16 cords total with it. It has plenty of power, splits everything we have asked of it and has had very few problems. I did have a hose get cut do to not being careful when putting the cyclinder back to horizontal for transport. I just had to cut a little off and reattach it. I am very happy with this log splitter. I spent a long time researching and watching youtube videos of all the different log splitters that are available. Works as expected

Was going to buy a logsplitter on-line, but with shipping this was a way better deal (and we have nearly 10% tax, and it was still better deal). Purchased it, towed it home, threw some gas in it, and started on the 2nd pull. Everything worked great and as expected. The tires are only good to 40 mph, so something to be aware of if you plan to take on freeway.

It'll Split a Rock

After reading reviews I was hesitant to purchase this splitter . Someone said the engine has a plastic camshaft . I was an automotive mechanic for 45 years so someday I'd like to tear the engine down just to see that ! Other's complained of hydralic leaks . I've used this splitter for two days straight . Very Satisfactory Purchase

Recently purchased on-line a 27 ton Troy Logsplitter and had delivered to one of my local Lowes stores for pickup. The delivery went smooth, and the splitter was ready for pickup as scheduled. The splitter was well prepared and Lowes personnel assisted with attaching splitter to my truck hitch. Upon my first use of the splitter after fueling it started on the first pull, and ran well. waisted money

I was enjoying the use of our new log splitter. It had plenty of power from the honda engine. started and ran well. I was splitting all types of wood with plenty of splitting force. So I thought I would try the ultimate splitting challange a load of cotton wood. That is when I found a unhappy design flaw.
