What Customers Are Saying
The log splitter is praised for its powerful performance, able to effortlessly split large, tough logs up to 30 inches in diameter. The vertical splitting feature is appreciated as a back-saver. Reviewers report the splitter is efficient, able to quickly process several cords of wood, including hard woods like oak and cottonwood. The hydraulics are described as smooth and powerful. While a few minor issues were noted, the overall sentiment is that the log splitter is an excellent, highly capable machine that makes wood splitting easy, especially for those with physical limitations or large wood-burning needs.

Would RecommendGreat product. Splits everything. I gather and burn 4 chords every year. Mostly oak and maple. I purchased my splitter online from Lowes to be picked up at the store. Soon after I placed the order a representitive from the store called me to see if I wanted the splitter assembled. Glad they called. I just assumed it would be. Can't beet the Honda engine. I borrowed a friends Troy Bilt before I bought my own and this one is way better.
Solid Splitter
Would RecommendThis is a nice splitter for the price. No, it's not a Timberwolf, but it 's not 3-4K either. I used to have an old Honest Abe for production splitting that was a real bear of a machine and could split ANYTHING so I was worried about this newer unit not be up to the challenge. But this thing is definitely holding its own. Yeah, it's a little stiff, but it will loosen up with time, and the Honda engine purrs along. No regrets here. Go to the Lowes moving site and sign up for the 10% off coupon, it...
great splitter for the money
Would RecommendHonda engine started on first pull. Used this splitter for 2 days and nothing has slowed it up. Logs that we had to roll onto the platform split with ease. Only complaint is why doesn't Lowes have an easier method of picking up large items? Everytime I go to pick up a load of lumber or something large like this you have to drag it through the store and load it by hand. Someone at Lowes should think about loading docks and more automation when it comes to purchasing for larger lots.
Does what I wanted very well
Would RecommendHave used the splitter for several days and several tanks of gas and it has split everything I have put in it with out any problems.
Love it!
Would RecommendNow that we finally own a home with a wood stove, we felt we could save by cutting and splittign our own wood. Within a day of buying the splitter we were driving past a pile of elder by the street and stopped to pick it up-and ended up cutting several more trees for the owner who was trying to bring them down with an electric pole saw. This spltter handled several face cord of freshly cut wood from those trees and several others-the vertical position was a back saver on the big chunks. There we...
Troy built 27 ton splitter
Would RecommendInitially I was thrilled with the splitter, it started first pull and seamed to work well. We burn 8-10 cords per year, so I was thrilled to have the help. After using for a few days, if I could do things over I would get a horizontal only splitter. Because the wedge is the moving part, the wood falls on the splitter. My old splitter the wedge was on the end and the wood fell off the back of the splitter. The hydraulic filter would be very easy yo break off if a piece of wood got away from you. ...
I purchased the Troybilt wood splitter after researching this product, and believe my I'm glad I did. When I got home with it I ended up splitting two cords of oak, and it split every piece with no problem. It is very powerful, but what I didn't like about it was that I couldn't find a cover to go over it. I didn't want to leave it out in the weather. My wife made a suggestion that we take the tounge off of it, and stow it in the shed. The tongue has two bolts to take off, and we stowed it in th...
Very Good Value
Would RecommendI finally tired of splitting firewood by hand. The 27-Ton Troy Bilt is a life saver. It split 18-inch long, 24-inch diameter sweetgum with little effort. Would like a larger gas tank. Also would like a handle to hold when raising and lowering the splitter. It will split oak as fast or faster than a helper can stack it. The Honda engine starts on the first pull every time, so far. Time will tell how it holds up. I have run 4 tanks of gas through it so far.
Perfect choice for me.
Would RecommendI didn't want to make any comments or recommendation about this product until I used it for some time to make sure it would do what I expected it to do. We purchased the splitter in August of 2009 because we had installed a wood burning stove for heating and hot water. After two years of use, this splitter has performed very well by splitting any type of wood I have sawed including Oak, Hickory, Walnut and Pine. I chose this model and brand because I did not want a Briggs engine. I am very satis...
Good Slitter,dependable,easy starting
Would Recommendservice was excellent, plus it was a good price and easy towing ,plenty of power to bust even the nottiest sycamore and oak i would have liked to have seen some nuts and lock washers on the craddle bolts but I retightend them and there just fine
I haven't found a log this splitter can't split.
Would RecommendI'm proud to have this log splitter in my arsenal. This splitter is well designed, easy to use, and the fuel economy is a plus. Storage is easy since it only takes a 4' X 8' spot. I haven't found a log yet that this splitter won't split. This splitter is so fun to use that I've asked my neighbors if I can split their wood too.
Saves on Pain
Would RecommendFor over 25 years, I have been splitting wood with a maul and wedges. Periodically, I would borrow a friend's splitter and decided it was time to get my own. After searching the internet for models and reviews, I decided on the Troybilt--I have had it for one month. I purchased it on the internet site, picked it up at the store, not realizing it was still in the crate. It was loaded with a forklift. I used a block and tackle to remove it from my truck. I had to partially assemble it. The self-ta...

Troy Bilt Splitter Best Bang For The Buck
Would RecommendHad this splitter for 6 months now splitting wood every weekend as we had a ton of oaks to knock down. This splitter delivers; I'm splitting average 12" - 30" dia. X 24" lg logs like they were going out of style. Honestly when I first got it home, towed it for about 50 miles (smooth ride) it cranked on the first pull. I am running premium fuel in it to help the engine run cleaner and more efficient. Bottom line is if you want a top of the line log splitter this is perfect for a home owner or eve...
Good solid splitter
Would RecommendVery pleased with this log splitter with only a few complaints. The jack stand is not as strong as some splitters I have seen. On the return stroke it sometimes kicks out before fully retracting. Lots of power and easy to use

Seal Leaked
Would RecommendI bought the splinter in Jun, out of season and it leaked. I spend a lot of money on the trip to split wook and even paid for others to join me and after I put the gas and oil in, it leaked. I had to stop because the hydro fluid was gushing down the rod. Maybe the splitter was in the warehouse to long? Took it back with no problems.
Good splitter
Would RecommendI have had my splitter for 3 years now and am very satisfied. The splitter was recalled because of a sticking hydraulic valve. I did not have a problem with it but it was repaired at no cost. Other than that, I have a recommendation. The self tapping bolts that hold the cradle to the frame will shear off. To correct this, I drilled out the holes and replaced the self tapping screws with “Grade 8” bolts with lock washers and nuts. I have had no other problems. I added a SenDEC hour meter so I wou...
Great splitter for the money
Would RecommendThis splitter is nothing short of sweeeet! Starts easy, runs great, plenty of splitting power. Thanks, Troybilt, for another great product! All pros, no cons.
