What Customers Are Saying
Customers report widespread dissatisfaction with this rat trap, citing a trigger mechanism that fails to activate even when bait is consumed, allowing rats to steal food without setting it off. Many describe the trap as extremely difficult and dangerous to set, requiring 10 to 15 minutes and risking finger injuries from the heavy spring. Reviewers frequently compare it unfavorably to competitor brands, calling it unreliable and poor quality. A small number report successful catches and praise the sturdy construction, but these positive experiences are vastly outnumbered by complaints of ineffectiveness and poor design.

Due to the poor design of this product I threw it away before I even tried to trap anything. The rig to set the trap didn’t fit into the slot. I tried NUMEROUS times and watched the video. It simply did not fit. Very very stupid design. Don’t waste your money.

Don’t waste your money.
The trigger is either poorly designed or poorly manufactured. Of the two traps I purchased, one will not set. I never had this problem with Victor brand traps. I would not recommend these traps.

Not sure how well these work
Would RecommendI purchased traps yesterday after the dry bait was not effective knowing that traps are a sure and instant solution. Set 4 traps with tasty food for rats.... This morning all the tasty food is gone! The traps were 'sprung' but no rat in any of the traps! I will try again as this is getting personal!!!! Obviously dealing with smarter than average rodents

I bought 2 rat size traps worked great
Would RecommendI live in Florida so I found that peanut butter was being eat off the traps by ants and lizards. I went to cheese and it to was eaten off as well. So I began to think like a rat. They like cheese so I used cheese again but this time I took a bread bag tie wrap and wound it around the bait to make it harder to get . BAM ! next 2 nights I trapped 4 medium size rats. Great product and no harm to the squirrel's.
Difficult To Set Properly
Would Not RecommendTomcat rat traps are difficult to set properly. I used two of these along side of a Victor trap. In the morning, the bait was eaten off the Tomcat traps and they were not tripped, but the Victor trap had killed a rat. I found that in order to set the Tomcat traps, the bend in the holding wire has to barely be in the slot. You have to hold the trap bar while gently trying to find the sweet spot that will release the bar with a very slight pressure. The Victor trap has a large plastic plate t...
Awesome rat feeder
Would Not RecommendOf course, if you want something that catches and kills rats, you will need to buy something else. These are hard to set and the rats will not trip them at all. They will, however, enjoy eating the peanut butter you've put out for them to snack on.
Poor Design of Trap Catch mechanism
Would Not RecommendSays "easy of use". Total Lie. Just spent the better half of a hour trying to place 3 traps. It seems that the design is flawed as the metal hook that is used to set the trap against the yellow plastic that holds the bait, appears to be too short to keep it set. Time after time after time as soon as we got the thing to finally catch and remain set...as soon as we placed it on the ground, or even breathed on it wrong...the trap sprung. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

do not waste your money!
Would Not RecommendAfter seeing a rat (no, not a mouse) scamper into the fireplace air circulation channel, I loaded the trap with generous serving of peanut butter. The rat licked it clean (as a whistle!) without setting off the trap. Then I mashed cheese into the bait holder and put peanut butter on that and on the wood underneath. The rat again ate all the cheese and licked the trap so clean you wouldn't believe any bait was ever placed. I'm trying again after remembering from childhood on the farm that a quick...

Waste of money
Would Not RecommendI tried to kill a rat with meat, cheese, pinut butter and nothing, the rat would get the food and the trap wasnt able to a thing even tough it did snap.
Easy to setup.
Would Not Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don't have rodents around my home. But I like that I was able to set it up easily.

Won't Set
Would Not RecommendWon't Set - I am an design engineer with 40+ years experience . . . these 6 wooden traditional rat traps (with narrow metal bait bar) will not set AND will NEVER set ! ! It is obvious to see why . . . but your production could not ! Quality control is missing in action ! How the "heck" could you mess up a centuries-old, proven mouse trap ?? I modified them but with significant waste of time. Don't waste your time and money

Very strong
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This trap will need to be set in a very secure place so that pets and children can not possibly interact with it. It is very sturdy and will do a good job of catching larger rodents.

good old wood built traps are the best
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] THE OLD STYLE WOOD TRAPS ARE THE BEST IN MY OPINION. THERE DURABLE AND DO NOT HAVE A PLASTIC SMELL TO THEM THAT CAN MAKE SOME RODENTS SHY AWAY FROM THEM. THERE POWERFULL ENOUGH TO DO THE JOB YET EASY TO USE IF YOU HAVE EVER USED THIS TYPE OF RODENT TRAP. NO CATCH AND RELEASE HERE, TAKES CARE OF THEM THE FIRST TIME.

The trap works well
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This trap works well and is exactly as stated in the product specifications. I would also add that it not only works on rats, but as an extra bonus it also is well suited to catch those pesky Ground Squirrels. I have found that peanut butter spread on the pad works very well for both. I have used the Tomcat product in the past for ground squirrels and had fair success using them; so they also work, and may be somewhat easier to set. But the...
