What Customers Are Saying
The Sta-Green Potting Soil Mix appears to be a mixed bag in terms of quality and performance. While some customers report good results, many indicate major issues, including an excessive amount of non-soil materials, poor moisture retention, mold and pest problems, and large debris mixed in. Overall, a significant number of customers reported the soil killed or severely damaged their plants, and it is not recommended for most potted plant applications.

Disappointed
Would Not RecommendI picked up a bag of this yesterday to throw over some grass seed. It reminded me of Scott’s Lawn Soil. It was mostly mulch with some peat moss. I was super disappointed. I even picked out 6-8 rocks. How is that going to help plants grow? I’ll answer that, it’s not.

Would RecommendThe two people were very pleasant and quick.
Good enough soil
Would RecommendHaven't used yet but seems like decent enough soil we shall see!!
Spend the little more for Miracle Grow
Would Not RecommendThis is by far not a potting mix by any good gardeners standard as it is the garden soil version with very little additives to improve drainage. It consists of no less than 85% mulch with 15% misc mixed in. I have made use of it when mixing with native soils and miracle grow dirt in which I have 90%+ success growing almost anything I want, but DO NOT USE as a standalone if you want your plants to be healthy and happy.

Misleading
Would Not RecommendThe product advertised is misleading. Within the name it states vegetable and flower but under the specifications it states NOT for vegetable use. USE EXTREME CAUTION IF YOU ARE USING THIS PRODUCT TO GROW VEGETABLES.

HORRIBLE - MORE MULCH LIKE THEN POTTING SOIL
Would RecommendI looked at Lowes online and saw sta-green potting mix and looked at the enlarged picture. It looked like soil and was less expensive then Miracle gro. I thought I would try. Once I got it home it was not soil - more on the mulch side. I decided to do a test and tried to grow 4 green bean seeds using Sta-green and 4 green bean seeds using my old miracle grow left over from last year. 2 weeks later I had beans growing from the miracle grow and nothing from Sta-green. I moved the top layer ...

Worst potting mix ever purchased
Would Not RecommendPurchased for my outside herb pots. I'd say almost half is twigs - some fairly large and even found rocks. One rock was larger than a golf ball. It also doesn't look like a mix that's going to retain moisture well, and looks mostly like the bags of garden soil I purchased.

Seems like a good quality soil. I
Nice dark, rich looking soil
"Soil" repels water
Would Not RecommendI picked up a bag of this potting soil to plant vegetable seeds. After several waterings in a seed tray, the soil just below the surface was bone dry. Not dry as in it dried out between waterings (I watered them daily), it was like the soil never even got wet. This soil repels water, making it impossible to grow anything. What a waste of money.

Buy organic
Would Not RecommendThis appears to be mainly shredded wood. Doesn’t hold moisture unless the container has a bottom.
