What Customers Are Saying
The Sta-Green Potting Soil Mix appears to be a mixed bag in terms of quality and performance. While some customers report good results, many indicate major issues, including an excessive amount of non-soil materials, poor moisture retention, mold and pest problems, and large debris mixed in. Overall, a significant number of customers reported the soil killed or severely damaged their plants, and it is not recommended for most potted plant applications.

Would Not RecommendNot very good. Mostly peat. Even miracle grow is better
This soil is great. I like that it has sand in it- helps with preventing compaction and allows for good drainage. I'm detracting a star because there were several very large pieces of material (poorly processed bark and wood chips). The processing and sieving is lackluster but I suppose thats the trade off for the price.
dirt
Would Recommendit did good for the plants
would not buy again
Would Not RecommendThe 32qt bags were on sale so I took a chance even though the reviews aren't great. As soon as I dumped it in the wheelbarrow I knew I'd made a mistake. The soil is loaded with sticks and large wood chunks. I started to pick them out by hand, then decided to use my 1/2"x1/2" screen. About 25% of the product is wood. I will not buy this product again and I would advise others to do the same. See attached pics. The smaller pile is what I picked out by hand, the larger pile is what I screened out. ...

Easy peasy!
Would RecommendWorks well with little effort on my part.
Compared to Miracle Gro..
Would RecommendBought a lot of this to plant tomatoes, berries, cucumbers etc in containers. I had been using Miracle Gto mx, which is great quality. However, this seems to have less peat moss than MG and holds moisture better. Too much peat makes the mix feel dryer and water flows through. This mix has a lot of fertilizer mixed in as well. Recommend this so far.
I wish I read the reviews...
Would Not RecommendIt looked OK but my flower beds are full of clover and grass. Do NOT buy unless you like weeding. Have never had this issue before, and first time buying this brand. Yikes.
Need for plants
Would RecommendThis product is for pot plants. I guess it will keep the soil moisture better.
its mulch
Would Not Recommendthe bag i bought a year or so ago passed as potting soil in terms of texture. Now its straight up wood chips with a hint of soil. i would not recommend using it for anything but mulch
