Just bought this router set and went to switch to 1/4 inch drive and it does not fit and will not go in even with bolt completely off.

Why wouldnt I buy skil!
I love everything about this router. From the price to the power and features it has on it such as the lights to light up your workpiece. I own all the other top brands but yet you look at my work table its littered with skil power tools. Skil has done a great job with their new tools. My next purchase will be the router table cause they have yet to disappoint me! And i can buy a 5 kit combo for the price of a battery of the other brands. Surprisingly my new favorite brand.

The best fixed base / plunge router I’ve owned!
Would RecommendWhat a great combo tool! I’m so glad I bought it. It’s the most vibration free router that I’ve ever owned and the speed control is easy to use and precise.

Skil products
Would RecommendOver the last two years I've replaced my skil saw, table saw, Jig saw, and now my Router to Skil brand. My reason is the age and history of the ones that needed replacing! The table saw needs a better table insert, stiffer and a better fit. I also wish the Jig saw had a place to keep extra blades, next time that will be a must have, and the Router really needs an on off switch for the lights. But So far they have ALL performed very well!! I am willing to overlook the little things because Sk...

A waste of money.
Would Not RecommendThis is my second skil router that burned up with no more than 25 working hours. I agree that I haven't used the second one in some time, but, to be told that I cannot get parts and that because of it's miss use is why it burned up?

Bad Speed Control Location
Would RecommendThis was the only mid sized router I could find that could handle a 3-1/2" bit with 2-1/2 hp and 14 amps to do larger jobs at a good price. However larger bits and different material types require different speeds. The Dilemma is the speed control & LCD is mounted on top of the routed making it inaccessible when mounted to a router table If I was Skil and wanted to sell more routers, I'd redesign the speed control to be usable in both orientations or include a remote control. IMO, I think a tra...

Pros and cons on the router
Would RecommendPros: Router is powerful and set up is easy. Cons: Opening diameter for bit in the base is about 1/2 inch too small. I got a more powerful router to use a tongue and groove bit. I can't get the top of the bit level with the base without damaging the base. I had to add a shim. Also the router has a toggle switch near the top to turn on and off. This makes free handed use awkward and somewhat dangerous. Given cost and power, I would purchase again.
