Pit boss controller

Bought this in July & not even 6 months later & maybe 5 times smoking on it the controller died. When it worked it was awesome but don’t buy this thing it is garbage, it’s early early Thanksgiving morning & now I can’t smoke anything because of it. Thanks Pitboss.

Description is incorrect.

The item listed actually has 4 different models and they are not all compatible with the model #s listed in the overall description. I ordered this based off the list showing my grill model # but in the user manual for the controller it has 4 different versions & only 1 is for my grill (of course that's not the one I have). I received a Legacy H1 & it isn't compatible with my PB7000FB according to the owners manual.

Control issues

On my 3rd control board since new. Approximately 16 months. Growing frustrated will all the issues I've been having. I unplug the unit between uses to make sure there are no surge events.

Very disappointed!!!

I just installed my third controller in seventeen months. I turned it on so I could pair it with my phone and guess what? The display would not light up! I'm tired of messing around with these wi-fi controllers! A total waste of money! Just stick with the original controller and be happy! Love the grill, hate their wi-fi controller!

Love controlling & viewing temps, but....

Was very dissappointed this would NOT turn off when desired internal meat temperature is reached.

Went out within a week

Had this board installed for less than a week and it started dimming and eventually shut off during a cook.

Not Worth it!

This controller is junk! It's ok when it works but that isn't very long. I've had my Pit Boss grill for 16 months and am already on my third controller. Pit Boss doesn't want to warranty the controller after one year no matter how old the controller is. The last controller that I got was only nine months old when it decided not to work and I was told that they weren't going to relace it because my grill was more than a year old. Not cool!

Does not work on 1000D3 model.

I bought this awhile ago and it does not work with my model as stated.

My second one just stopped working

I got one of these legacy controllers as a gift. I loved it, I love being able to read my temps on my phone without having to stay in bluetooth range or go out to the grill. Only problem is my first one the screen was so dim you could not see it, and after a short period of time the wifi went out too. Pit boss was good about getting me a replacement so I never left a review, but now the second one has just gone bad. I have had it for 7 months. Obviously there is a quality control issue. DIDN'T LAST LONG-POOR QUALITY

Only lasted 8 months before the display went, and the unit started shutting off. WASTE OF MONEY. Put back the original unit that came with the grill and works fine. I can live without WiFi!

Control Panel

I bought a pit boss had it maybe 2yrs, controller went out now I can't find a new one. Could it be poor quality that so many of the same kind go bad .

Worked good for a little while

Worked great for month and half. Now it is lucky if it connects to phone. Will be calling support Monday.

Failed. In three days

Installed to fix a 1 year old grill. This one failed after one week.

Pit Boss Legacy Connected Controller Accessory Kit.! smoke it device from Pit Boss is very easy to install & well worth every penny it makes it so much easier to use your Grill.! Love using it on my Pit Boss Austin XL Onyx Edition. The smoke it device is easy to use with the app & the cool thing is you can just the temperature & you can set the timer.! I recommend anyone to get this for the Pit Boss believe me you would not be disappointed

Not what I was expecting

I purchased this because I was under the impression you could control the temps in 5 degree increments up to 300 degrees or so. Well come to find out the only thing this is good for is to look at the app and see what is going on with your grill instead of just walking out to it and doing the same thing. Just a waste of money in my opinion!!

DO not buy. This board will not function

I have been shipped two different control boards and the first one will flicker on and off and ultimately not control the grill for more than a minute or two. The second board will not power up at all. I ended up re-installing the original control board (which does not work with bluetooth OR WiFi). Whoever manufactures this control board is doing something very wrong lately.

Waste of Money

Upgraded my Sportsman 1100 with this control board, and it quit working in 6months. Display flickers, and grill takes 30 tries to fire up. WASTE OF MONEY!

Just stick with the old board

Received as a Christmas gift of 2022 June 2023 board started flickering had to keep plugging it in to finally get the grill to work. Put the old board in no problems whatsoever! Save your money.

Don't Buy

Worked a while until the display went out. After that, it stopped working completely. I reinstalled the original board.
