Great working compact splitter, the side shelf is a big plus. Lowes delivered with oils and hoses installed ready to go. Started right up and it easily cut elm, oak, poplar. We are set for the winter.

Does the job!

(I did have to top off hydraulic fluid after initial cranking) Tried this out for the first time today. I had started it earlier and it crsnked right up, and functioned as expected. I checked for leaks and operation. All was satisfactory. It had been assembled well at the store. So, to find out if it would fill the bill. Wood was maple, and largest diameter was about 24”. Some knots and forks. Machine did a great job. I had never used a log splitter previously, and I wasn’t disappointed....

Very Good Investment !!

Bought this at the end of November after waiting for 6 wks. Pulled it home at a safe speed(15 miles) .filled the engine with oil, checked all connections and levels, cranked it up, and proceeded to split 1 chord of 24" white oak without a hiccup. 2 blew up

So I bought this log splitter and can't say I've had very good luck with it. The first one ran for about 3 minutes and then the engine cracked, which threw out a missive cloud of hot smoke and burned my leg. Not a super serious burn. So I called up Lowes and they said they'd switch it out for me. The second one ran great for 1 tank of gas. Then about 3 minutes into the second tank,while just idling, the same thing happened. I didn't get hurt this time but the hole made in the engine was bigger...

Excellent Splitter. A Few Tips For New Operators

This splitter is incredible. It’s splitting through 20”-25” logs like its butter. I bought this splitter because a huge beech tree was taken down in my back yard and i wanted to keep the wood for firewood. There isnt a piece of this tree that the splitter hasnt been able to go through. I do have a few tips for new buyers. Like the instruction manual says, do an oil change after the first 5 hours of use. I waited 8 hours and it had burned through over half of the oil, and it was black. Second...

This wood splitter is well worth the purchase price! It’s design makes it a very functional splitter. It is built a little heavier duty than other comparable splitters.

Good Machine but needs better factory QC

I’m a “do it yourselfer” so I opted to assemble myself. Wasn’t hard and didn’t take long but found that one of the seals in the cylinder was defective. Since this was stored outside there was also water in the engine (which I was able to take car of). Most people would have returned it at this point but I called the mfg 800 number and they sent me a new set of seals no questions asked. If Lowe’s had done the assembly and tested this would have been caught before I took it home so no fault to Low...

Hydrulic oil sprays constantly

We bought 2 of the 27 ton wood splitters and. Both had the same problem. Lowe's did give our money back

Performance is better than expected, highly recommend.

Strong splitter!

Excellent machine, powers through red oak logs like butter, even the ones with divides and crazy grain. Starts right up every time and is easy to operate. Do check the assembly if done at the store. On mine they omitted some parts, one clevis pin was left off that could have caused injuries if not detected. I should have assembled mine myself and recommend you do if you decide to purchase.

The Performance Built 27 Ton log splitter is great! I have been able to split everything I have thrown at it to include White Oak, Red Oak and Hickory logs. Most of my logs average 10-12 inches in diameter, but a few exceed 25 inches. No problems, it busts them up, even the ones with large gnarled knots. Very pleased

I love my unit. I have split more wood in the short period of time than I have in my whole life. The only down fall to it is the size of the tires. Speed rating for 45 mph makes it hard to travel with. But ill just have to put it on another trailer to go the distance with.

Exceeds expectations

Outstanding piece of power equipment. Performs better than expected. Well-engineered with thoughtful design, making for easy clean out. Have yet to throw anything into it that can slow it down, including pecan and Bradford pear with knots and joints. Have shot through 16 inch diameter logs without much effort. Highly recommend.

Splits Great

We lost alot of ash trees due to ash bores.I have been borrowing my brotherinlaws splitter.I decided to buy one as will be cutting and splitting for years.This unit works great,has alot of power rarely even slows down on the toughest log.Impressed with the operation and the safety compared to other splitters Ive used....................
