Doesn't open automatically

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a compactor that opened automatically when you stepped on the foot pedal. This compactor requires that you step on the foot pedal and pull the panel to open it. It's more difficult to open if you don't get it just right. It would be easier if it just sprang open when you push the foot pedal.

Can’t live without it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the 3rd compactor I have had and I literally wear them out. I don’t know how people live without one. My only complaint with this newest one is that when I step in the foot pedal to open it, it doesn’t immediately pop out- I still have to pull in the handle. My old one didn’t have this extra step. Otherwise, it is a key appliance in my kitchen.

Worth the wait

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love all the features of my new compactor. The lock compaction is wonderful. I had this model compactor several years ago before COVID and had to wait to get this one for my new house but well worth it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought it a month ago and it hasn't worked since it was installed. The toe plate will not open the container when you step on it. I have had to wait until the 29th of this month to get it serviced,

So far just ok

It was quite a bit more than the other compactors. I was expecting more features like"extra pac"etc. The action on the door is not very smooth, you literally have to yank on it to open it. Just got it so lets see how it works out

Great compactor

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great compactor, Bought to replace a 20 yr old one exactly like this one, mechanically. All controls are hidden behind door. Looks much better.

Expectations

Exceeded our expectations. Instructions and dimensions were perfect. Loved the handle feature. It makes it easier to lift and open the compactor. Only complaint is you have to press the compacting pedal twice to open. Our previous Whirlpool when you press the button it completely cycled (compacted and returned to its original position). On this model….you press the pedal to compress and you have to press it a second time to return it to its original position (to open).

Beautiful Compactor

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A really well-made trash compactor. Quiet and attractive. Although one of the rear wheels came off when I installed it but I was able to fix that. It’s a bit wider than my previous GE compactor so was a tight fit but I was able to squeeze it in. Much better construction than GE. It’s also a bit shorter even at max height than the GE so I added a piece of 2” stainless steel at the top to trim it out. It looks great.

Meh, it works...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We remodeled our whole kitchen and bought this to replace our 1990's Whirlpool trash compactor. Nothing will compare to that old workhorse, but this KitchenAid is decent as long as it is on the solid pack feature. The pedal to turn on the compactor is at the floor and is my favorite feature for handsfree operation. Older model better designed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the old model better - it opened with the foot bar without having to pull the drawer - it was much more practical when ones hands are full. Still, this works as re-designed, except that the front door is leaning out a little.

Great upgrades

Usual quality.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Only drawback is it is a little noisy. I suspect that would be common amongst all compactors. This replaced a Kitchenaid compactor I had for twenty years.

28 YEARS on the last one!

We built our home 28 years ago and this was what we installed, 28 years ago, it simply Would, Not, Die! Finally this evening was the end of its life... I went right on Lowes and bought another one! Made in The USA!

Terrible opener.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The door latch is terrible, period. We replaced a Kitchenaid compactor from 1996 which worked flawlessly. You stepped on the foot pad and the drawer opened, duh.... You would think this new one would work the same. Nope, you must step on the pedal and pull on the handle. It is very inconvenient when you have something to dispose of in your hands. We had a service call to adjust it but it didn't help. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Good Machine/lack of manufacturer support

Good appliance

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am happy with the look of the compactor and the woking. I am not happy with the foot release. it constantly doesn't release the bin and I have to lift and pull to open it. It looks like the extension on the peddle is not long enough to press on the release mechanism .

Great compactor

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just had to replace my last one that lasted 25 years. These are good products and dependable. Can’t live without one.
