The BEST trash compactor!

Cheap tracks

Track broke after a year. Can repair it the way it’s designed.

The panel ready release could be stronger

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the panel ready compactor to replace and reuse the cabinet panel on an existing garbage pullout. Unfortunately the step bar opener doesn’t release well and requires that we pull the handle at the same time as stepping on the opener. That is cumbersome. I have a KitchenAid standard compactor at another house that fully releases and pushes the bin out further.

Panel Ready Trash Compactors

I bought a panel ready trash compactor by Kitchen Aid, I have been unsuccessful in getting the panel to go with it. It states panel & handle sold separately but I cannot find anywhere online where and how to buy them. As of today I have a new unused trash compactor because I am unable to use or return it. Do not buy it without professional help or not at all.

working great

One problem in almost a year - trash was pushed back into motor housing, causing the compactor not to operate. warranty service within 72 hrs fixed problem. No cost to me.

Built like a tank.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We replaced our 22 year old KitchenAid compactor with this like for like new one. Works like a charm. Just like the old one. Which was still working but the trim pieces had worn out. I know trash compactors are not as popular as they were but we love ours.

Great Upgrade!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good looking and well-functioning compactor. My "old" Kitchen Aid was a bit larger so a little bit of cabinet work had to be done (18" W down to 15"). Nice 5:1 compaction reduces my trips to the large trash container. Foot controls for the bin and activating switch. There is no key to lose! I'm very pleased with the appliance so far.

Drop in replacement.

Like it But!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall, its a Good Dishwasher. Love the LED Light. However, I can't get the silverware especially the knives to come 100% clean.

Broken before we could even use

It was with reluctance I purchased this compactor as the reviews are very mixed. However we very much like having a compactor in our kitchen and the reviews for this particular model seemed better than others. Additionally we have had a Kitchen Aid refrigerator and double wall ovens that have lasted twenty plus years. We loved them both. The product was delivered in mid June. Nice Features

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this trash compactor 6 weeks ago and it’s working fine . It’s much quieter than the old one, but sometimes it doesn’t open to well. You need to press on the foot bar and pull on the handle. My old one you needed just to press on the foot bar and it opened nicely. It has nice features that solid load compacts and odor filter. Overall it’s a decent trash compactor.

Total disappointment

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is nowhere near as good as my old trash compactor. The first new one totally didn’t open when we stepped on it. A part to fix it, made it worse. I finally settled on the second Compactor, and it’s also not hands-free opening. So disappointing!

Noisy

This compactor is nowhere near "whisper quiet". I replaced a 15 year old Maytag as it was sounding like it was about to explode. This model is exactly identical to the maytag except the controls. And it's just as noisy. I expected much more from a $1700. machine. It hums, buzzes, and thumps making it seem like it's about to wear out.

Disappointed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Basic functions work as designed. However it takes much more effort to open than my old compactor. You must push down on the foot pedal and then pull the drawer to open. Does not pop open like the old one that I replaced. Pretty sad when my 22 year old appliance worked better than the new one.

flawed design

We purchased this compactor to replace our 15 year old compactor from KitchenAid. The old compactor was solid and performed well. This new model does not open automatically when you depress the foot release. It is a major flaw and I would not recommend purchasing for this reason.

Kitchen Aid does not help with problems

I submitted a bad review on this compactor. Kitchen Aid answered and said that they would help if I reached out to them. That is just for show. I am still stuck with a very large useless item in my kitchen. They did not do anything to resolve the problem.

Do not buy.

After 6 months of light use by two adults, the product drawer stopped opening and closing properly and leaving a dark residue on our wood floors. The residue stained the floors. We had a a repair service through Lowes come over and determine that our new appliance could not be fixed because the replacement parts were not available. So now we are stuck with a damaged floor.
