Why doesn't everybody have one of these!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We love our trash compactor. It's easy to use and we only take our trash out to the garbage can once a week. The compactor makes that possible. I am amazed that everybody doesn't have one of these in their home!

Not as good as 25 year old machine it replaced

Looks Great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works Fine so far, but the door should spring open when the foot release is pressed, it does not work that way. You need to assist the door to open by tugging on the handle.

I have had several during my life and this compactor is the equivalent of the Mercedes Benz. My weekly trash is so small now, nice tight compact. I am 90 yrs old and the turn on peddle is easy for me. It's nice and smooth. I love the handle, that is a real plus for me. For now I am happy with my decision to purchase this Kitchenaid. Ver...

Good Compactor

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased a month ago. Does what it is supposed to do, but it is much, much louder than the 20 year old model it replaced. We'll need to wait and see if it is as robust (feels a little flimsier), but I am hopeful.

Great Unit

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just bought and installed this trash compactor about a week ago. So far, it is the best one I have owned (and the third one over 30 years). I really like the fan in this unit as it actually works to keep bad smells out of the kitchen. I am really impressed with its operation and its packing abilities.

Terrible!!!

I just purchased the Kitchen Aid Trash Compactor. No where I. The fine print on the purchasing website doesn’t explain that the foot pedal only opens the drawer/door 3-6”. What is the point of a “foot pedal” when you have to use you hands. This “feature” is in the user manual after you open and install the unit. It is full of plastic parts. I will be switching out my 20+ year Whirlpool in my guest house.

Trash Compactor

Not up to previous KithcenAid Quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Was very disappoint with the overall quality of the Product as it is nowhere close to the quality of the other KithenAid appliances we have had. I am not anticipating that this product will remain reliable and not expecting a long lifetime. The opening pedal is very flimsy and will not open the draw unless you step on the far righthand side of the pedal. This is very frustrating for me sine I now have to step out from behind my sink and step...

Item did not match image on website

The foot pedal design is different than the image on the website. It looks clumsy and a portion of the foot pedal sticks way out in the middle. It is not sleek like the web image on the Lowes site that shows pedal going across the entire width of the unit without the part that sticks out. Checked Kitchenaid website and their images match what is shown on Lowes website. Returned item to Lowes for credit May 26. Will not reorder this from Lowes.

Wow super compactor

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My old model was a GE and it did well. It finally died after 20 years so I got this one. I tell you what this whirlpool crushes garbage like no other. It put my other compactor to shame. I literally take out the garbage once a week with a family of four. I sometimes wonder how it could compact so much. Really amazing I’m very happy with my purchase.

Drawer is stiff and clunky

Good but not as convenient as older model.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I miss the easy open of my old Kitchen Aid trash compactor where I could step on the floor bar and the door would open. The new kitchen Aid requires you to step on the bar and pull on the door handle with your hand which is not as convenient, especially if hand is holding something or dirty.

Space Saving, Scent Reducing & Sleek

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We installed a KitchenAid Trash Compactor in hopes of making less trips to the garbage bin outside. Normally we take the garbage out every 2 days and purchase odor eliminating garbage bags. This has greatly reduced our trips to the main can and there are no odors at all. Added bonus is the sleek design and red colored handle sides. The reason for 4 stars is the bottom pedal is very delicate and we've had to replace that early on already.
