Simple to Use & Maintain

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Compared to a previous compactor (Braun) that lasted about 16 years there is actually no comparison. The Braun was heavy, difficult to use and was prone to rust and breakdown. The new Kitchenaid was an easy install, simple to use, with quality workmanship and materials…so far so great.

Great Compaction

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far so good. I've had it a month and it works great. It fit perfectly into the space of my old Maytag compactor. Just hope it lasts over 20 years like my original Maytag compactor as opposed to my newer Maytag that lasted seven years.

Good product, poor registration experience.

The product is not registered, because when I contacted the company that you use to register products, they did not know what a compactor is and could not register. I also tried to register it online, but could not through the website. The company was able to register the new dishwasher that was delivered at the same time.

You should consider a trash compactor

We have had one for decades and regularly compost and thus, have a very small bag of garbage each week. I like the sleekness and the lack of a smelly trash bag sitting in the way in our beautiful new kitchen. Hard to open

Not sold yet

Unfortunately, my KitchenAid which was barely six months old has had the welds on the door give out. I used the warranty and service appointment tool which was easy. Too easy, because it was never confirmed and no one showed up. Now after waiting another almost 30 days I scheduled my own service appointment. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I replaced a GE compactor that frustrated me to no end. This KitchenAid model is fantastic so far. I really like the handle - it's solid. My previous compactor had only the foot release, and that always seemed flimsy (until it finally broke). So far so good!

Dependable

Best Looking Compactor

Wouldn't be without a trash compactor. Love the concept. Whirlpool makes them all to the same dimensions to fit in the reserved under-counter space. This one has the solid pack option, and is a tad quieter than the others. Love the looks and the toe press button.

The push plate come off and now won't work 1 yr 3 months old in my new. Kithen with Kitchen aid appliances ! Very disappointing

Cheaply made with poor warranty

I purchased this to replace a GE compactor that had lasted 23 years. This one didn't last 7 months. For some reason, the plunger pushed the drawer front out and bent it. The inside of the drawer is cheaply made, allowing it to bend and eventually push out the front of the drawer. I called warranty support, and they require a service company to come and look at the product before they will honor the warranty. I asked the agent if I would have to pay for this, and she told me that she couldn'...
