The blown-in insulation product was generally found to be an effective and affordable solution for improving home insulation and energy efficiency. This is the 4th attic that I have insulated in the past ten years. This is the first time using this product though. We did 2000 square footage in 3 hours. We had some trouble getting the blower going, but once it was running, everything went smooth.

DO IT YOURSELF PROJECT

Would Recommend

WE BLEW 41 BAGS IN 4.5 HRS( 2500 FOOT COVERED), MACHINE WORKED WELL. BEWARE HOSE WAS ONLY 50' LONG SO I HAD TO USE 2 HOSES WHICH THEY WERE AWESOME ABOUT. WATCHED HOW TO VIDEO ON HOME DEPOT SITE (SAME TYPE MACHINE) AND IT WAS HELPFUL. LOWES PEOPLE WERE VERY GOOD TO DEAL WITH. NOT ITCHY, BUT WOULD RECOMMEND MASK/REPIRATOR.

Great Product when on Sale Now!

Would Recommend

We do thousands of square feet of attic insulation per year! This is a great product and comparable to Owens Corning Attic Cat blown-in insulation. Tho both are good, we prefer the white color because it is harder to see the application in pink. This product also has very low dust when applying with the free rental of the blower.

Lowe's Contractor was AWESOME!

Would Recommend

My log home here in Kentucky is now 30 years old and had some original rolled insulation which really didn't help much. We have been updating this place since moving into it ten years ago. We installed a geothermal system and since then, updating the attic insulation was needed. I had cancer a few years ago and it has really slowed down my do-it-myself capabilities since I lost the feeling in my arms and legs-yeah-it's a bummer. Anyway, I kept reading all these reviews and everyone kept saying h...

Easy Application

Would Recommend

Easy to apply, covers area as indicated on package. Lowe's insulation blowing machine works well. Do not try to put all of one package into machine. I found that breaking the package into smaller pieces worked the best and resulted in fewer times the machine was clogged. Excellent product at a great price.

JM Blow In Fiberglass Insulation

Would Recommend

Absolutely great product for open attic areas. I was hesitant since I never did blow-in insulation before but installed 16" without any issues. 35 bags (large ranch home) in 5 hours. Looking forward to a huge payoff this winter. If you have any doubts about doing this project, put them aside. It's actually fun. The insultation is very easy to load, blows in easily, and barely any itch.

Simplest way to keep my ac in the house

Would Recommend

The product works great and is cheeper then then the green stuff not itchy at all. My wife ran the hose and I ran the machine that's the tricky part the thing didn't come with connectors for the hose to the blower so you better have some duct tape. And you have to be careful not to over fill the blower and make sure it's not running out at the same time it's almost a 3 person job but 2 people can handle it no problem.

great product

Would Recommend

a friend helped me put this in my attic on the 4th of July... other than finding a Lowes that had a machine available, it was such a breeze.. the bales break apart fairly easily and load well. I did use a stick all the time to stir it up to keep it from getting too packed.. also a tip, since we used the machine from the bed of my pickup, it helps to have a tarp or something underneath. I lost (wasted) about 1/2 bale til I got the hang of it. a tarp I could have scooped it up and used it. :) Elec...

Great product but loaner blower was not

Would Recommend

Installed seven bags of the JM insulation over my 3 car garage ceiling. Using the technique suggested by previous reviewers, we broke up the bale before loading the blower - thus allowing the insulation to partially expand before being shredded and had good results. No clumping at all and good distribution in the attic. Note: the insulation blows nicely but does not respond well to secondary handling. It will pack immediately when touched, so it's nearly impossible to scoop up any excess and mov...

Dont be intimidated

Would Recommend

Easy to use. Blew in 13 packages in under 3 hours with 1 helper (must have 2 people). Saved $1200 over quote from insulation contractor.

Easier than I thought

Would Recommend

This was extremely easy to do. After the first couple of bags I got the hang of feeding them and it took little or no time to install 35 bags. The key seem to be not to force feed and let the machine do the work. Watching videos and prepping ahead of time really helped. The dust was minimal and the "itch factor" was very low. Post install clean up took minutes. I was able to cut several bags into ahead of time and feeding was easy. The machine was in excellent working order so job went very fast...

Great Product!

Would Recommend

I am building a new home and was undecided for a while about blow-in cellulose or fiberglass. After doing research on both I decided on the fiberglass. I have always received excellent service at Lowe's, so the purchase of the Johns Manville blow-in was an easy decision. I am highly allergic to fiberglass, so was a bit concerned about handling the material. I was feeding the blower hopper while my husband was running the hose to do our first blow-in over the garage and mudroom ceilings. I was am...

Really Good Product

Would Recommend

Blew 14 bags of insulation into my attic a couple weeks ago. The blowing was really easy. Since the insulation is white, it's like you are blowing snow into the attic. It didn't have a foul smell (or really any smell) and it wasn't itchy. Overall, it was a really good experience. My Uncle helped me and now he wants to blow some of this same insulation into his attic. One word of warning: make sure you have all the parts to the blower before you leave the store (i.e. make sure it works).

Worked well

Would Recommend

Blew in 14 bags to get about r38 in a 750 sq. foot attic. I got the prepwork done, the machine rental and the installation all done in a day. I had a helper load the machine while I was in the attic blowing. Once you get the machine running it's pretty easy to do. I do recommend nailing in some depth sticks to gauge your progress. There was enough hose to keep the machine outside to avoid any mess inside. The application didn't seem all that dusty as I had read in some reviews.

Easy Project for all

Would Recommend

I purchased 20 bags of this insulation for a weekend project. I was going to buy the Green Fiber Blow In, but I had some concerns that it was made with paper and could possibly retain moisture. I also found that this product had better coverage. It took 3 people under 2 hours to blow in 14 bags with ease. There was some early issues on how to load the product into the machine, but we found by cutting the bags in half and placing the half we were going to load in a trash can and cutting the remai...

Double Check Blower Before Leaving the Store!

Would Recommend

This product exceded my expectations for quality, ease of installation, etc. It was not dusty or itchy at all. When you compare R value and square foot coverage, this product is an excellent value. Now the bad part...make double sure that the blower you rent is complete and functional. I had to return one that did not work and was missing the remote control, and the second had a non-functional remote control and the coupler for the two hoses was missing. I cobbed it up to make it work, but was a...

Very bueno

Would Recommend

I guess the builders of my house forgot to put insulation on one side of the house.... Realized that during the summer but waited till cooler weather came in to do the job. Wanted to go with the old fashion roll out style cuz it was better than the other blow in stuff. But found this was the "new" better blown in stuff which doesn't fall apart like old newspaper stuff. Anyways - just make sure you open the bag the correct way otherwise you'll find that scooping the stuff off of your floor and in...

Have the pros do it

Would Not Recommend

I just figured out how much it was going to cost me to do it myself. I also got an estimate to have a local insulator do it and it is the same price for actually more insulation than I had figured for myself. The product itself is good but if I can spend the same money and have it done by the pro's that's what I am going to do.

Above Garage and Adding More in House

Would Recommend

My wife and I blew insulation in above our garage and throughout our house in less than three hours while on vacation during Christmas break. The material was easy to use, my wife loaded the machine while I was in the attic and above the garage. After all was finished, we have over 30 inches of insulation throughout the house, including over the garage. I recommend everyone to insulate over your garage because you loose a lot of heat out the garage in the winter and gain heat in the summer throu...
