Great product but...

The materials were fine, but the instructions were lacking in real application. The glue they provided was not sticky, nor did it keep the seal in place. The technique was modified to apply the bead of glue, then heat with heat gun until bubbling, then apply the seal which now sticks where it is placed to allow assembly of the furnace in a vertical orientation. It would be impossible with their instructions.

worked for 2 months

Gasket came loose after 2 months of use. Surface was cleaned thoroughly prior to installation and curing instructions were followed. I do not recommend this product.

Fire goes on when completely shut down?

I read and followed the instructions. Now my dampener in the door works again. I'm consuming a fraction the wood as before. Well worth the effort. Use wire wheel on a drill or minimum wire brush by hand to clean the surface. I did my door. Start in middle of hinge side and run around till there again. Don't cut too short. Some fibers unwind and may need trimming up. Great fix for on the cheap.

wood stove roping and cement

I was dreading this. It actually went easy. Make sure to pull the door and work on it on a workbench or a utility floor. Make sure to get all of thee old roping and cement off and make sure your roping is the correct width. Use a wire brush and scraper as dircted and clean out thd channel. This will go well.

adhesive is like water

Adhesive runs like water, drips everywhere and doesn't hold gasket to door channel very well to keep in place as you close the door. Would be much better if the adhesive was more of a gel.

Good Fit After Firing

While initially tight requiring good force to close the stove doors, after one firing the gasket fit well and the doors seal with their usual pressure. I could not take the doors off so the glue had to be applied vertically. A thin stripe on the doors and a thin stripe on the gasket held well with the doors forced closed for 8 or 9 hours.

Heater maintenance made easy.

This kit is efficient and easy to use. I would recommend it to others who are doing repair or regular maintenance on their wood heater.

Turned brittle after one day of heat

This gasket turned brittle and broke apart in chunks after one night of use.

Easy to install

Very easy installation. Of course the door was a little hard to close at first but after it settled in it was easy to close. The glue was a great idea. Held in place and easier to make corners.

Great door gasket

This 5/8 rope fire place door gasket is really great. It is a nicely woven design, like a rope, with a tight weave. Follow the directions and it works lime a charm!

Glue deterioates gasket

I place about 1/4 bottle of the glue on the metal and curled it at low heat. The gasket absorbed the glue and did not stick to the metal. When I tried to see how flexible the gasket was it fell apart in my hand. The glue provided destroyed the gasket and did not hold! I would not recommend!

Easy to use gasket kit!

This is a great kit for replacing the gasket on my wood stove. The directions are clear and their is ample quantity of product to complete the whole job.

Only stuff I use

Perfect kit to reseal door and Ash pan. Simple to install,works great.
