What Customers Are Saying
The product received mixed reviews. Some customers found the gasket easy to use and effective, while the majority reported significant issues with the quality and performance. Would RecommendThe Imperial gasket is extremely easy to use, IF you do the prep work first. The old gasket needs to be removed, then use a wire brush to thoroughly clean the channel. Be sure to wear safety glasses and gloves. Once the channel is clean, use alcohol or automotive brake cleaner to clean all remaining residue, BEFORE attempting to install the new gasket. Apply a bead of the gasket cement around the channel, then press the gasket in place. I did not cut the gasket until I had placed it in the c...

Does the job fine
Would RecommendI read some reviews that weren't competely happy with this product but I needed a new gasket for my stove door. I had purchased a 3/8" Rutland kit but that gasket was too thick and wouldn't allow the door to shut so I purchased the Imperial kit and this gasket fit the door perfect. You need to remove the door and lay it flat to apply the liquid adhesive otherwise it will run out of the channel. The Rutland kit also had liquid adhesive. After I let it sit flat an hour I installed the door and...

Worked great
Would RecommendThis product replaced my big door gasket and worked just like it did when I first got it. Follow the directions that come with it. You will not be disappointed.

Didn't even bother
Would Not RecommendAfter reading many terrible reviews and realizing the glue was only designed to withstand the 600°F I returned this product and got some Rutland 2000° gasket cement as well as a Rutland black gasket(kit) for a dollar and a few cents more . I'm not about to compromise with a hot burning stove that's for sure. Do it once, do it right and know that your stove is not going to have a potentially less then secure seal. That's my two cents.

Would RecommendInstalled without any problems. Simple installation.
Be careful
Would RecommendI should have measured the width more accurately it didn't close I had to take it out and wear plastic gloves that really sticks quickly and I have used it before and when done properly works great!

Glue is useless
Would Not RecommendAfter properly cleaning my fireplace and cutting the rope to size, it quickly became clear that the glue was absolutely useless! It was to thin, ran down my fireplace door making a mess, and would not adhere to the rope.
Won't stick
Would Not RecommendWhen trying to attach the gasket to the wood stove door, the gasket wouldn't stick to the glue long enough to close the door for it to cure. I tried using more, but with no success. Very disappointed. I've never had this happen with other glues for the past 40 years.
absolutely terrible
Would Not RecommendThe adhesive just get absorbed by the rope and doesnt actually adhere to anything, even using and excessive amount didnt help. dont even think about purchasing this garbage, back to the drawing board for me :(
Wood stove gasket
Would RecommendWorked great, it was easy to apply the glue and place the gasket .
Lasts only a year if you get it to stick
Would Not RecommendI've purchased these a few times for my wood stove just had to buy another today. All but one has stuck for a while. One the glue never tackified and I had to return it. I've never had one last more than a year and a half when it did stick. Glue seems to be of poor quality and gives out before the gasket wears out, usually during an inconvenient and cold time of the season. Lowes is the closest place to me that carries gaskets so I'm stuck with this every year. I wish they'd try another brand.
Extremely hard to use,
Would Not RecommendGlue is very runny. Very hard to put on vertical surface. Gasket doesn't stick to adhesive. I would think they would have an adhesive that is tacky. I e-mailed them to inform them of my dissatisfaction, never got a reply. You'd think they would test their own product, or give better instructions as to how to use. Probably would have tape ready the next time to tape gasket while installing, says nothing on instructions to do so.
It's a gasket
Would RecommendThis is the gasket I get every other year as a replacement for my pellet stove. It's a gasket and it does the job. One piece of advice - I don't ever actually use the glue. I just stick the gasket in the channel and close the door, I don't think it's possible for the gasket to come out. By not using the glue it makes replacement MUCH easier, no scraping involved. The next time I go to replace it I just pull the old one off.
Gasket okay
Would Recommendapplication of the glue something to be desired, durability will have to wait and see. RTV would be a better adhesive
