Commercial Grade/Quality!

This cost a bit more than I would have thought but I highly recommend not going the plastic route. Seeing it up after painting it black I get a good feeling that my through the wall range hood venting set-up is rock solid!

Lowe's always has what I need when building a new project.

Won't fit adjoining 6 inch pipe

This is a nice quality product, but be aware, it is exactly six inches in diameter. Will not fit into or outside of the adjoining 6 inch pipe. I had to cut the metal down by using tin snips. Really tough to make a clean tight install. I used expanding insulating foam to seal at wall face

Metal wall vent accommodates 6" kitchen exhaust

This exterior wall vent is well constructed with a minimum of sharp edges on exposed surfaces. It has a plastic mesh over the vent opening that I would feel better about if it were metal -- I think a determined squirrel or rodent could chew through the plastic easily enough.

Good and sturdy

My old vent was made of plastic and became brittle and disintegrated due to sun exposure. This one is metal and should last a very long time. I had to drill new screws in the wall because the holes didn't match my old vent and I modified the length of the pipe with a pair of tin shears. I think the vent mechanism will do a much better job than the old one.

Workmanship

Quality for a lower price than Broan.

Thick gauge metal but the bonus is the front slides off so you only have duct tube and the face to work with so you can get your hands on the inside to easily align the connections and if they end up mating in the wall like mine you can easily tape the seams internally! Just don’t screw the plate without mounting the front first cause it’s through screwed to secure it. I’m buying this in 4” for all my other venting needs. Love it!

Well Made

Heavy duty, worked perfectly. Not thin aluminum. The depth was an added benefit, because I had a 2x6 exterior wall, so no cutting was required. The other store - HD - had only a thin aluminum hood for only a few dollars less. Highly recommended. Used it to vent a microwave range hood.

I installed this vent through an outside wall. This vent is very sturdy and keeps outside air from coming inside.
